Headphones that stay on!

Been using the suppied Koss phones, along with a harness for the detector. so no need to put detector down when digging. But the damn things keep slipping off forward. I use the detector in the right hand, so have to put the phones on backwards, so the cabler comes off my head on the right hand side.
Have tried stretching/uncoiling the cable but no use they still keep slipping off.

Anyone recommend a better pair that stay on better?

Cheers

Neil

Any pair of phones with a full surrounding ear cup over $ 20.00 will be a substantial improvement over those crappy give aways. The most comfortable phones I have tried were Koss KW pro if you can find them, the replacement for these are the E 9000 they are a close second great sound quality. If you want a more snug fit go with Gery Ghost type.I'm currently using Troy pro custom phones they are OK very durable cord, click notch volume on each ear cup,the sound is tin canny.I would try them on before you buy.Good luck ,just my opinion.

Just done a search for them on google, and came up with upstatedectors website. What a range of headsets!!

Being new to modern MD'ing had not expected there to be custom headphones available. I have been using my old C-Scope 700 that I bought as a kid for 20 years, and decide it was time for an upgrade!!

Now looking at the site, these Grey Ghosts look good.
But which one? bearing in mind that I am the sort of person, who will spend $50 rather than $20 if there is a choice, in the hope that I am getting a better product, which do I go for?

The choice is between Gray Ghost

...since I hunt mostly at the beach and they were said to cancel a lot of ambient noise. Well, hunting wtih these on is like being in a sound-proof booth. I was concerned about my hearing (not that I ever had the volume up that high before) and the BW's allow me to keep the volume way down and still hear the slightest whisper of a target. While I didn't believe what others said, a good set of headphones really do make a difference. I'm a musician, and I can tell you that the "sound" is very different from the stock Koss; great frequency response / tone. They are extremely comfortable too (and they won't fall off )... that's a bet. :)

The Gray Ghost NDT or Ultimates are good, the Troy Pros seem to be great, the SunRay Pros also are very good and made by the makers of Killer Bees, but seem to be a bit better. The Timberwolfs have the best volume on my Sovereigns, but on the Explorer they are not as loud as it seems the Explorer have a volume limiter built in.
All of these are very comfortable and made for detectors.

Well i had decided on the Black Widows, but they are not available in the UK, and after trying about 4 dealers in the USA, there is no one in your country that is willing to sell me a pair. Feeling extremely p****d off at the moment. Been on the phone to every MD shop in the UK, sent e-mails out to US stores and no one wants to help!!"!%&*(&*(***

Not exactly true, the manufacturers will sell me a pair direct, but at a greater cost than the dealers are selling them for!! But the guy I spoke to there (Gary) has been very helpful.
