Headphones Question?

I am ordering/re-ordering:geek: an F-75 tomorrow and will be getting headphones with it, here is the question. I have tinutis(sorry if its spelled wrong) which means I am tone deaf to some freq due to the constant ringing in my ears can anyone steer me in the right direction on a good set? was looking at some black widows they are pricey but if I have to invest a bit more than I guess thats what I have to do, just part of the price for service to our great country:thumbup::usaflag:.

I think some of the biggest mastakes with the new metal detectors is not using a good quality headphone. Buy what you can afford as always but put some time in checking out the better metal detecting phones. I use Ratphones and Killer B's. GreyGhost, Blackwidows are also very popular.

Hi Lawman

I have that constant ringing in my left ear. Currently I am using Koss QZ-99's and they work great for me! Much cheaper than the "made for" detector phones and they are compatable with every detector I have tried em on.

Many out ther to pick from and would advise you to shop around. As everyones hearing is unique...a mult-line dealer usually carry several brands so go and visit one and try them on for size so to speak. Just remember because one fellow prefers the A model on a particuliar unit you may prefer the B or C unit due to your hearing and personal preferences...

So many different headphones to chose from, but will say the ones made for detecting seem to hold up longer than the standard stereo headphones.
I have a high freq loss plus very hard of hearing on the other tones, so I need the volume plus good tones that are not too high pitched. On my Sovereigns I find the Timberwolfs work the best as I have the volume plus the tone quality to hear those high tones. Now on my Explorer SE it is the Troy Pros that have the volume plus the tones I need. Now on my F-75 I like my Uni Probe as these headphones are great plus I have a pinpointing probe I need to have with the F-75 as it see such small targets and deep one you need a good probe in order to find some of these target. The Uni Probe with the headphones is only a little more than the pocket Uni Probe and you get a great set of headphones that have volume and good tone plus the deepest pinpointing probe out there.

Silverstar, I hope that you have not bought a set of phones yet. I have been battling tinitus since 1991 when I had brain surgery for an aneurysm. It is a maddening condition that is incurable. I have tried every set of phones out there and bar none, the Ratphones are the best. Great range of audio and super comfortable. Give them a try. R.L.

Marke, just what is reflexology? Is it some type of bio-feedback? My tinitis is so bad that the hum or squeal never goes away. Sometimes, it actually goes to a louder level. I have been to several ear, nose, and throat doctors and they were of no help. I have been taking natural supplements to no avail. I am willing to try most anything to get rid of this problem. To be honest, a constant threshold sound helps more than anything. Silent search detectors magnify the problem. R.L.

I have Whites 30 ohm phones ($35) with dual vol. control and also Killer B hornet ($89) with dual vol control. I like the Whites better, much lighter, much more comfortable and the sound quality is just about the same. Don't get 8 ohm, sound is muffled and dull.

I'm not sure the BW will help the tinnitus(sp?). What they will do is block out most all external noise and give outstanding response. But if the noise is already "inside" the ear cups they might not make much difference. They actually work so well I have just ordered a Rattler single-cup headphone. I have had the snot scared out of me at parks, and I kind of get creeped out in the woods when alone. I deer hunt in dense cover and most often hear deer before I see them. Just too unsettling being in the woods and hearing nothing at all. Personal thing. :look:

which easily means you could get mugged or something too, so those 1 cups are a great idea. Sometimes if I'm going into the woods alone, I'll just take a set of real cheapies...even walkman types, that let in some background noise just for piece of mind...
HH,
Bill
