Ok guys what are your favorite headphones for the MXT? Am going to upgrade soon and wonder what everyone likes, thinking about the KillerBee Wasp, any pro/cons on these?
Thanks for your input, Rob

I use the Wasps. I have the volume turned all the way down. Yep. All the way down. The only way the VCO doesn't tear my head off. Limiter switch doesn't really seem to make any difference. Did they send me a bad pair? Maybe some other Wasp owners can help me out with their experience.
They are very comfortable and seem to be very well built. I like them and have no complaints. Just thought it odd that I have to turn the volume all the way down. Still pick up the audio signals just fine.

I haveused the the Black Widow For over 2 years--I love them BUT the are 1 of the HIGHEST priced there is!

On some makes and models, due to certain ciruitry designs and signal processing, it just doesn't work. such as on my X-Terra 50. But the Killer B 'Wasp's are what I use on my IDX Pro all the time because it DOES work.

My Troy Pro headphones are, without a doubt, the more durable with the best coiled cable of them all and great audio. Also very comfortable with a little more ear space.

My other headphones, which I assign for use on my modified IDX Pro all the time, are the Killer B 'Wasp.' These two headphones get the job done.

Thanks for the info Monte. I guess the MXT is just one of those that the Wasp's limiter switch just doesn't work. I still like the Wasps. Even with the volume turned all the way down I still hear the audio signals very well. In hind sight I probably would have went with another type. Knowing what I know now. But I got 'em, and I'm going to use 'em.

I will agree 100% on the Troy Pro headphones, they are great for our MXT, but for the Sovereigns I like the Timberwolfs for the volume they have as they are the best volume for us that are hearing impaired. Another set that is great is the Sun Ray Pros made by Killer bees, but seem to be better built than the Killer bees are and have a great sound and comfortable too.

I just purchased some Killer B "Wasp" the Optima series cans, from Brian at http://www.southern-treasures.com/killer_bs.htm He said that the Killer B "Wasp" was one of the most popular sold to MXT users, I should have mine this coming Monday. He also said, he was not aware that the volume has to be turned down to the min hard stop on the volume knobs. So,I still decided to go with the "wasp" I had him send me a pair, if they are not the shiznitz, I will send them back. I don't want to use something that is non-functional or does not operate 100% that means all the bells and whistles as mentioned by B&B in their description of their product and they do say "if not satisfied send them back". My first request was for the Sun Ray Pro's but he is out of them,I needed something ASAP my calrads are pretty much junk, and since Brian was heading out to do some shipping I'm gonna giv'em a try.
I'll post my results

Mike

Well got the Killer Bee Wasps today and they are great, just about blow your head off if your not careful to adjust it before you slip them on. Thanks to ARTIE for the speedy service.

Okay, newbee question since we're on the subject. I've got $8.95 KOSS foamies that were laying around the house when I got the detector. What exactly am I missing by not spending another $100.

My detecting season coincides with bear season (black and grizzly), so unless I've got a partner with me, I'm a little leary of full ear coverage.

Well, I received the Killer B's great job by Brian getting them shipped and in my hands in only 2 days.

I ops checked them out side connected to my MXT and basically observed the same as DPW.
I could probably live with the audio always on with the volume knobs turned all the way down but, I really want the limiter circuit.

Does anyone Know of a pair of phones on par with the Killer B's that actually has a limiter circuit that works with the MXT.
When I engaged the limiter circuit, I could hear a change as if it was cutting out the higher frequencies but no reduction or limiting of the audio volume
Thanks
Mike

What I found was when I first plugged them and turned it on I could not tell any difference, but you go out side and swing it over a target and flip the switch back and fourth you will see a huge difference.

Nocanfind, Thanks I'll give'em a look.
My Son has a Whites Classic ID I can compare. I'll use the Killer B "Wasp" on them and see if they are more compatible.
