Headphones for X-Terra 70

New member
Ok another newbie question. Do I need to spend big $$ on headphones? Can I use something from Target, in ear, over the ear ? If I can save some $$ since I just spent big bucks on my detector.
Thanks for looking.

This type works for me.
Can be positioned under chin or behind neck.
Can be worn with any kind of head wear, or without.
Less than $20

Radio Shack sells a full set of headphones with a volume controll for each ear for around $25.00 me and a fellow hunter (Donut) purchased them prior to a hunt this summer, they work just fine.I like the full headphones bcause people tend not to ask you to many questions and kinda leave you to hunting.

Yes, I wonder if a person really needs those $100+, 150 ohm ones with a limiter? Probably no limiter in the Radio Shack ones?

I think it is like a lot of things, unless you try the more expensive ones you don't mind using what you have. I used to think that the picture in my old analog tv couldn't get any better.Life is funny.

I like my 2 sets of the nicer headphones. IMHO I think you can use the others you may not hear "as much" but they will work. If you have a friend with a nicer set try them out and see what they sound like, Beale.

Don't settle for the cheapest option but also, don't go overboard either.

When I first began detecting, some experienced users once explained to me that by only using the built-in speaker, I was certainly missing the fainter targets. And a visit to the beach means you'll often be unable to hear fainter targets if there's a loud surf beside you.

Try to get earphones that give you the ability to hear a little of what's going on around you... but make sure they offer a good range of audio from the treble through to the bass. Earbud types are fine. The one thing that's important is to try to find a set that has a LONG cable attached.

IMPORTANT:
Any normal length earphone cables tend to be a few inches too short and you'll get caught up and pull them from your ears by accident every time you bend down to dig. So try to find a set with extra long (or longer than standard) cables.
