Headphones for the hard to hear

I have no personal experience with Black Widow headphones made by Detector Pro but they are advertised as very high volume headphones. Try to find a local dealer for a test run.

Good luck
Bob

Hi jlw, I know how you feel. I have extremly bad tinitis and the Black Widow HP's are the best I've had yet and the price is well worth it. And they are made for the hard of hearing. I bought mine at KellyCo in Orlando, Fl. Actually they are in Wintersprings a part of Orlando. I think you would like them. KC HH

At 64 my hearing is terrible and wear a hearing aid in my left ear. However, I do not wear it while MDing when I'm using my Gold Pro headphones. They are GREAT, period, and well worth the money....IMHO.

I've always stood behind the SunRay Pro Gold. They're very comfortable with the leather ear pads, dual volume control, limiter, just all around good set and never falls off your head. JMHO, Nancy

I just bought a set of Koss QZ-99 noise cancelling headphones off eBay for $39.91 and they are great. They are half the price of most places and they are made for metal detecting

Been using dual voulmes (Jolly Rogers) Hard of hearing in my right ear. They can make a deaf person hear! Super loud.

The description for the Koss QZ-99 headphones indicates they have Noise Reduction ear pads but no Db rating. I found no mention of NOISE CANCELING electronics.

No, They do not have active noise cancelling, but are advertised as passive noise reduction. I had a pair of Killer Bs before these that I paid $125 for and I prefer these. They are comfortable and carry a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty. For $40 I'd say they are a good deal.

[size=large]i would ask those who recommend certain headphones as to how much pressure they apply to the head? some folks idea of comfort are not the same as others. thats my worry. been tempted to try these other brands but if they aren't comfortable to me there goes my money. i bought the whites 9000 for my xlt and they are great. much better than the koss 30. the whites are koss but came with the whites logo. when they wear out i'd like to up-grade but haven't found a dealer who carry's the ghost or golds close by .
for those who are hearing impaired, a tip. my hearing Dr. suggest after mding for an hour or two, when i get in my car/truck to go home , turn the radio on and set the volume to where it's confortable. after i return home the next time i get into the truck/car pay attention to whether i need to adjust the volume up or down. if down then the volume on my head-set is too loud. i need to re-adjust it down. training my ears to hear with lower db's. same can be used for those with good hearing.

I just got in from hunting 3 hours with the Koss QZ-99s and they are as comfortable as any I've used, although they are a little heavier than Detector Pro but they are very well made. The only thing I don't like about them is that the cord is longer than most. I am not recommending them over any other brand. The reason I went with them as opposed to another brand is the price. I want to add a 5.3 coil to my armory, so I'm looking to save any way I can. I've only had mine about a week, but so far I can't find any fault with them.

do to 5 close mortar rounds that almost blew me up in Viet Nam. Now, that's my 'good' ear due to a fall off a ladder last June. The impact with the wall and then cement floor left me with a serious concussion, skull fracture, and a ruptured right ear drum. Then I got infection in the right ear, and after the ruptured eardrum healed it left me with scar tissue on the font of the ear canal that wraps around to about

I will be ordering a new pair here soon.

I have a constant ring in 1 ear , and a slight ring in the other. But, I havent had a doctor check them out . So, I dont know how bad is bad.

Ive thought about the Black Widows, but, what if my ringing ears arent as bad as ???? what they are suited for.

I always liked the idea of Pro Golds Leather ear cuffs, and Nancy uses them so I know theyre good.
And , I think fsa's comment made up my mind.
if he can use Pro Golds, and he uses a hearing aid, but pulls it out , then I should be just fine .

Excellent thread !
Thanks to you all for sharing your thoughts and experience.

Dusty

Get the Black Widows they are tight but designed for the hearing impaired like me. I have really loud tinnitus had it as long as I can remember got handed down from my dad as he had the same problem. The Black Widows have individual volume controls and a limiter ( a super feature I wouldn't be with out.) The are a very high quality phone. I love mine.

[size=large]and for home use i use seinheizer rs 120 wireless. connected to my t.v. you can turn down the sound so the bride is comfortable and control your own level. very comfortable.
