Headphones For Sov GT

SurfPro

New member
Took my headphones (Koss) off at the the beach to give everything a rinse and forgot them down there. Would like to know what you all would recommend to replace them. I have no hearing loss that I'm aware of, so that's not a factor to consider.

Thanks in advance,
SP

I use sunray gold pro's, a lot better than the Predator ml's i used to have but not as robust on the cable, the leather muffs cut out the ambient sound very well and are very comfortable

Somebody on here pointed me to the $20 Sony studio headphones at Walmart. These things are about halfway between normal large size headphones and those tiny walkman style, probably closer to the big sized headphones. Very comfortable on the ears with the soft material around the muffs. Won't sweat your ears up in the summer as bad as regular big ones. I found the audio to be much better on these than Grey Ghosts, which sounded kind'a flat to me.

There is no volume control but I find with the volume all the way down on the GT they are just a hair too loud. I move them slightly off my ears to get it just right but plan to tape some foam in them or something so I can adjust the volume control much higher without it blasting me. I'm not sure if it's true but I've read a few guys say that setting the volume control on the Sovereign all the way up and then adjusting the volume on your headphones allows soft deep signals to sound off better.

My best advice is to try several pairs if possible. Test them out at your local detecting store if you have one.
The fact of the matter is that peoples hearing capabilities are different so what's good for one may not be for you.

What about the Jolly Rodger Ultimates?

Since I lost my Koss phones I've been using a pair of JBL's. They are amazing at distinguishing the tones, but don't seem appropriate to use for metal detecting. They are more of a high end indoor type of headphone. I can only hope that whatever I end up with is as good.
