Headphones for Cibola

New member
G'day from Aussie, just need some thoughts on headphones for my new Cibola - I have a 32ohm set but the volume is really low, tried a "noname" brand same impedance but with inline volume control but still very soft volume. Would I be better with a 8ohm set? Would they be louder in volume? Do Tesoro have there own brand headphones? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Kevin

I use SunRay Golds with my Cibola and I don't have any volume problems, less ohms is not always better. Most metal detecting headphones have a higher impedance around 150 ohms which closely matches the detectors output impedance. I would recommend headphones designed for metal detectors, there are many good ones to chose from.

Another possability is you have a defective Cibola

I use Jolly Rogers with mine, work great for me.

I've been using Koss QZ-99 for a few years and really like them for metal detecting. They do not have good bass response so I don't listen to pipe organ music with them, but in the range that metal detector beeps or tones are, they do the job well. The sensitivity rating is 102 dB SPL/1mW and the impedance is specified as 60 ohms. I have found them plenty loud with every detector I've used them with and you can adjust them even if the detector does not have a volume control. They are available for around $40 to your door but seem to have a wide range of selling price and shipping charges so it can pay to search a little.
Cheers,
