Headphones for AT Pro

The Garrett ones stock or waterproof are the only ones you can get right now with the Garrett plug may be someone making them. You can order the plugs from Garrett and make your own I think. I hope to get some set up soon. Not a big fan of the stock ones.

if you wanna use your own headphones and when or if the adapter becomes available do you have to splice into your headphone wire or will it screw on? i would think if you cut or alter your headphones in any way it will void the warranty. Cladking

Man that plug is a bugger to get off top piece will slide right off the pins. Wire is glued in there pretty good small flat screwdriver and some gouging and digging solved that problem.
Red and white wire go to female plug black to male pin. Solder it up slide the pins back in the rubber pice new glue job and AT pro is now hooked up with a pair of extra Sun Ray Golds I had laying around. Hardest part was getting the old plug off to reuse. Those little pins are a lot better made than they look when you get into the plug. Same type used on the Aquasound plug for the coil. Pluged it in working great. Think some one said Garrett will sell the ends if you do not want to take yours apart.

So in order to use a Quality pair of headphones, the AT Pro now cost over $700 and you have to void the warranty on a pair of brand new Pro Golds.
That's a bugger.

OK, I'm not trying to cause trouble here but...seems that most detectors in the same price range don't even come with headphones at all? I might not mind getting a better quality set of headphones at some point but upgrades are always going to add to your bottom line. Extra coils, coil covers, in-line pinpointers...it's a gadget junky's paradise! Jason, your mod is great! Would you consider doing this for others at some point?

No one gives a good set of factory phones. They are a normal upgrade. To me even the koss that come with the $1000 and up detectors are not great phones.

I was just saying that most people that already have a detector and have already bought a good pair of headphones shouldn't have to buy another pair. I have four detectors and my one pair of Killer Bee's works on all four. I wouldn't want to have to buy another pair just for the AT Pro. Trocar's suggestion solves that problem for just a few dollars. I still think Garrett should come up with an adaptor that could be purchased when you buy the detector for those people wanting to use their own headphones. I personally would never use the waterproof feature of the AT Pro. I don't hunt in the rain or water.

Seems like the AT was designed for lefties.

I am with you on the adaptor could be made for sure.
Maybe they Will make one. The water proof part is well worth it though. I jewelry hunt a lot in the summer will not take Long to pay for it with gold prices. 90% of my gold is found in or near the water.
