Headphones for an Advantage

Relic

New member
I just got an Advantage and a pair of Killer B's to go with it. Unfortunately, the headphones attenuate the sound so much that I can barely hear it, even with the volume turned up and the limiter turned off.

What headphones would be a good choice for this detector.

Thanks,
Relic

and have the Ultimates .I use mine on Whites, Minelabs, and Fishers and seems to have clear tones on everything. I really like the clipper switch feature also. HH Bill

I downloaded the Advantage manual and discovered that the Advantage takes an 8 - 32 ohm impedance headphone. I also discovered that the Killer B's are 150 ohms. Is that the reason for the low volume?

Thanks, again!

I use Timberwolf Howlers and Black Widows with my Advantage they both are 150 ohm headphones and both work good so I don't think that is the problem. Does your headphones have a stereo/mono switch on them? If they don't you may need an adapter.

Out of all the major brands of headphones I find the Timberwolfs are the loudest. Those Killer Bees normally are fairly loud and wonder if you may have a problem with them. Were these new or got used?? If new I would contact who sold them to you or if used ask if they had a problem or not.
the 150 ohms is what most of the top brands are and they work fine.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas. The headphones are new. The problem seems to be the limiter - when it's turned on, all signals are extremely faint, even with the volume turned up all the way; maybe a defect in the limiter circuitry?

I've contacted the dealer and he's willing to take them back or exchange them. I'm leaning toward Gray Ghost Originals, but also like the Deep Woods model.

Thanks, again!
