which pair of the 3 listed are a better choice for tesoro? rat, killer B's or gray ghost. i have the gray ghost and like the very much, but my ears sweat really bad.lol is there any kind of cone material the helps stop sweating like that?? i know rat uses leather ear cups and killer B's use smaller ones but same material as gray ghost. also which ones are lighter weight? that usually helps too is a lighter weight. i know my volume control only has 10 click adjustments so getting it just right is a problem.its usually too low or too high. any help would be great thanks alot.

Hi Bill,

The Killer B'a are a little lighter. But not a lot lighter. Just a little more comfortable than the Gray Ghost.

The volume pot works better on the killer B's. It's easier to get a good volume setting. More klcks.

Have not used Rat's. The last I heard, you could not buy a set because of a production problem. I think
they are not cooler. Just a guess.

HH,

I recall someone had said the GG's had a bit deeper tone than KB's... but I'm still using Calrad's...
Might try liteweight COOLER headphones for summer use before I can spring for a hi-dollar set.

I have a set of the Sun Ray Pro Gold. I really like them. They fit my big ole noggin, and work well, Beale.

I'm re-thinking my post, BTM....

Headphones is really one of those things that you might want to buy from a place where you can try them out, first.

Everyone's noggin is different, AND hearing ability.
Some may like a different feel, or performance level.

Tesoro has a communicative audio quality about them, where they really do warrant the best quality headphones.

I recently had a MD with a couple different flat tones and a bong noise.
Cheapest cheapo headphones on the shelf would have relayed any info it could give.
Another one just went BZZZ, BZZZ and a lite came on.
But Tesoro is quite different.

Y'all know the Tabdog is a musician, right?
I'd say his advice, for sound quality, would be pretty savvy.

Nothing better than trying 'em, though...
My Calrads change response in the summer in direct sun...
Gotta put cutouts in my sombrero for metal detecting!

I almost hate to say this,

But I have a set of wireless, behind the head headphones that rest on the ear. They are
the coolest headphones I have used. They are very light and cover very little skin area. I
can talk to people with the volume up all the way without taking them off.

Bad side is that they are not very clear. It's hard to hear clearly.

The only time I use them is when I intend to dig all targets, regardless of how it sounds.
In tot lots, they enable me to socialize while I am detecting.

I got them at Radio Shack, and they cost as much as my Killer B's when you include the
adapter and short cord I used to make it work and the taxes.

But I know what you mean about sweating a lot. I get soaking wet in this wet, Arkie Heat.

HH,

A really good set of headphones at a reasonable price are the Koss TD 80's. Great mid and upper frequency response. The Calrads are also good for the price. I think a lot of these high priced headphones are over rated. I had a set of Timberwolves when they first came out, were they good headphones, yes, worth the price, no. That's just my opinion.

WoW Tabdog!

That is kinda earth shaking...

I know you'd josh us, much as you could get away with, but you wouldn't ever lead anyone astray...

Gonna have to think about that one.

Thanks TD,
