The guy thought it was his Explorer had a problem as he could pull out the headphones out a little bit and they would work. The reason this was is there was a wire broke in the cable of the headphones as they will work on some other detectors as some are stereo and some are mono and as you notice they have a switch to set them to what ever detector you are using. Now when one of the wires break with the pulling of the cable or movement they will not work on the Explorers/E-tracs and I know the Sovereigns plus other detectors. The Gray Ghost and other top of the line headphones should work on any of the detectors, just have to set it for stereo or mono on the headphones depending on which detector you are using. If one wire breaks they will not work on the Minelabs and seen many that said they worked good on their other detector and thought they wouldn't work on the Minelabs, but it is a broken wire giving the problem and can be sent in for repair which is normally a new cable.
I have a set of the Troy Pros that is made to work on either one so there is no switch to change, I also have several other sets I use on different detectors. The set I had in was a GG Ultimate so they are in the mail to Detector Pro to get repaired and being they have worked so good for the last 6 years and Gary give such good service the guy ordered ordered a new set of the NDT too for his Safari his wife uses so he will also have a back up with a extra cord so if he has a problem he can change the cord right in the Field.
