Headphone Speakers

Rob (IL)

New member
I want to buy speakers to put in headphones. I'd like to get 300 ohm speakers so I can have 150 ohm impedance. There has got to be a place to buy them. They use them in my Rat phones. Rob

Why do you want to do something like that. Why not put the correct speakers in there and then maybe add a variable resistor so then you can just simply adjust the volume. The ohms doesn't make the speaker. The construction and materials make the speaker. There was another person in the forum here that made his own headphones, it should only be a couple of posts down, ask him where he got his parts. If i come across anything I will post it in here for you.

Or, go mono! You probably are anyway. That way you can series the speakers and get twice the impedance. WOW twice the impedance. :surprised:

First I can't find the post and 300 ohm speakers are the right speakers to give me the impedance I want. ALL I NEED is to know where to buy the higher impedance speakers. I have a special need for these phones. Rob

I haven't been able to find "headphone speakers" so I think that you just have to buy them in the size you want from what ever speaker store you can find. If you do find a place to buy headphone parts and what not then please post it in here for the rest of us. I have been wanting to build some of my own headphones also.

Impedance will effect the tone of the speaker. grey ghost is very high impedance like 1200 ohm?. stereo headphones use 8 ohm. There is a differece in sound tone and volume. matching to 300 I would try between 100 and 500 ohm maybe.

Grey ghost use 150 ohm speakers. My rats use 300 ohm speakers connected to give 150 ohm across the range. My Rats are fine, they have no problem. They have more bass then other phones and fit my hearing. My corded Rats have a great sound and I would like to replace the speakers in my wireless phones to have them sound more like the Rats.

Most of the phones, Ghosts, Bee's etc. use the 150 ohm speakers. It's hard to believe that a supplier of high impedance speakers are so hard to find. I would think it would be a common item. Rob

You should be able to find headphone speakers here.

I just finished building my set of headphones last night. Here's a pic of the finished phones.
