headphone shorting out!

I have an Eldorado and after a busy summer of detecting I now have the head phone plugin shorting out when I am swinging. This as because the cable has to to a 180 after leaving the plugin location on the control box. To solve this problem I would suggest you velcro the cable to the pole before allowing it to do the 180. I have done this to mine and now have no problems with shorting out.

Are you using a 90 degree plug? Most headphones come with the 90* plug, although straight plugs are still available. Also, if you have any of the new style phones made by Detector Pro (Gray Ghost), Sun Ray, Troy, Timberwolf, they come with a lifetime warranty.
