Seasons Greetings All,

Well, the Christmas shopping is done,,,
Sooo, I get to daydream and research for me again. :clapping:

Winters are tight financially, as my clients have put theyre horses out for the winter.
so I'm looking at around march for another "want" purchase.

And I want a "Good to Great", pair of headphones. around $125.00 Im thinkin.
My current H.P.'s are from Kelly co, part of the package deal.

Whites sells a Koss brand, but when I called Koss, they said , they warranty that model, but they dont make them, or sell them. ???
(Hmmm? they wouldnt tell me WHO made them)
That raises a little concern. and , I had posted about that on Whites forum, and Geee, that post dissapeared FAST!
Now , that raised ALOT of concern !
Seems like the Whites forum is all about selling theyre product, which I fully understand.
But, I feel they were worried that the truth about the product would hurt sales.
Both Whites and Koss seem to try to hide who really makes them.
And , if thats the case, ? why would I want to buy that product.

So, After losing faith in Whites ,("Strictly" over headphone matters), I am in search of a GOOD pair of headphones.

Any advice on which brands to buy ,(even the Whites/Koss ), from you all would be appreciated greatly.

I think this board is THE BOARD !

I do have faith in the knowledge obtained here. Theres no hidden agendas, or politics,.
Just good ole straightforward, honest, opinions through experience.

It doesnt get much better than that.

Happy Holidays,

Dusty

PS, I have a feeling Larry will know the rundown on this , and straighten me out. LOL

Thank Goodness for Larry and Nancy !

SunRay Pro Gold all the way! http://www.sunraydetector.com/ We both use them and can't say enough good about them. Even the maker is a great stand behind his product guy! One of a kind trustworthy person for sure. HH, Nancy

There are several good sets of headphones for detecting Dusty. Grey Ghost are certainly on that list but my favorite is Sun Ray Golds. For those with larger than average ears, the Black Widow model is a good alternative.

I have several sets of Gray Ghost phones and have been entirely satisfied. You also see good posts on the Killer B line and the Sunray Pros. I'm thinking you wouldn't go wrong with any of the higher end brands. Some posters think they are a waste of money, but IMHO they are much better than the inexpensive phones I started with. My two bits.

Used Sun Ray Gold all last season:thumbup: and that helped me find $ 700 + in clad 8 gold rings plus many silvers !! :whites:

Get a set of Black Widows. Best I have ever owned. You can never go back to a cheap set after using the best.

Hey Dusty you've already gotten the best advice but I'll add mine anyway. I have a pair of Sun-Ray Pro Gold's and a pair of Jimmy Sierra "Maxi-Phone ll" by DetectorPro. I think the sound quality between the two are very close but I'd have to give the edge to the Sun-Ray's for comfort and construction. The DetectorPro pair is a great pair of HP's though and more economical. Gary at DetectorPro also stood behind their product and took care of me, similar to how White's does, when I had an issue. You can't stress the importance of that enough. Apparently Sun-Ray has great support too according to Nancy which is good to know. Lastly a friend has a pair of Killer B's (not sure of the model) that seem to be really nice HP's for sound and construction. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.
JMHO

Lots of choices. I started out with the E-Series 9000 White's/Koss Headphones and they were very good for $99. The comfort of the KOSS/Whites was excellent IMHO. I then moved on to the SunRay Golds and they are also very good for about $130 with great sound quality. I keep both pair (one for backup just in case). CCH

Thanks you all,
I'll start looking now

Thanks for the fast replies.

Happy Hunting ( well , at least to those of you that brave the snow, or live down south, LOL

Dusty

I've got 3 pair of the Killer B's and I love em. Been using Killer B's for several years now and the sound is awesome, sharp and crisp!

Hmmm?
LOL,
Darn! Too many options, I'm glad I have time to think.

I did read a post somewhere that the pro golds were possibly weak in the area where the cups attach to the topstrap?

But, I am such a freak about my detector and electronic stuff, I dont think I could hurt them.
LOL, Id probably keep the HP's in a hard sided case.

Not really, but Im almost that ,,,??

Good advice from you all.
Thanks
And Merry Christmas to you all.
