Headphone Question

I am new to the ATX - just received it a week or so ago - but have been a Minelab user for nearly 15 years. First thing I added to the ATX was the Garrett headphone adapter - was not a fan of the cheap headphones and strange plug configuration that came with the detector. Anyway, the only standard plug headphones I have on hand are a set of KOSS headphones that came with my CTX3030. When I plugged those things in to the ATX - it about blew my ear drums out - even with the volume turned all the way down on the ATX. As most of you probably know, the KOSS headphones do NOT have a volume control. So - the question(s) - who else is using aftermarket headphones with the ATX, what brand are they and can you adjust the volume so that your ears don't bleed? Otherwise, looking forward to getting this detector out to the beach in the coming week or so. Tested it in a nearby park and recovered some change, but a lot - and I mean a lot - of junk. Guess that's the price I have to pay for a detector that can penetrate highly mineralized soil and still run with a fair degree of stability. Impressed so far.....more to follow......and thanks for the replies! Regards from Tokyo....Shayne

I tried the atx with my Apple iphone earbuds they worked pretty good, and also my cheap pair of sony earbuds. I did not find either too loud.

Gray Ghost Headphones are very good as well.
