Headphone question

I am currently using the Koss UR30 headphones that came with my Sovereign GT when I purchased it and am thinking
about getting another brand with volume control.
I thought I would ask all the Sovereign users what they prefer.
I read in the manual that Minelab recommends 32 ohm headphones and I believe the Koss headphones I have are 100 ohm.
I see some of the higher end headphones are rated at 150 ohms. Does this equate to better signal response?
I am looking forward to any replies and advice and appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,
Felix

Felix, volume control headphones are a must with the Sovereign.I use the original one knob Jolly Rogers I believe they are well under the 32 ohms. but seem to work fine.I'm going to probably go with better headphones next season.I'm not a fan of any S rod asm even the Whites. For any coil larger than the 10 inch coil I'll hip mount for long hunts. You need an S-1 probe mounted on your rod asm.Good Luck Ron

Just to clear something up, the specifications page on the Sov shows 32 ohms, but that's under accessories and only applies to the standard headphones you can buy from Minelab, not what is recommended for the detector. In the manual under audio they say they recommend 32 to 100 ohms. It's funny how that range exactly matches their own low end and high end headphones. While the posts I have read make a good case for not going below 32 ohms, I don't think I would worry about a 150 ohm headset.

Unless you live near a detector store, where you can test different product, you just have to read what everyone uses and hope it works for you. I have tried several low cost headsets, 3-4 different ear buds including some nice Sony noise canceling ones, and now I am expecting a set of Gray Ghosts because they seem highly recommended on the forums and reviews. Hopefully I will love them, because I have to stop trying new ones :)

My Sunray golds are 150ohm, no problems on either Sovereign, explorer or etrac(or any other machine i've tried them on like the f75)

The Grey Ghosts were very flat on my GT. Almost like hearing sounds through a cup that you put up to your ear and listen through a wall. Glad I was given those to try and didn't shell out the cash for them.
