Headphone question?

I was looking on Minelab's website at the X705 page and saw they listed the Koss UR-30 phones. Would these be good? I see they're only around $50 but then I see all the Black Widows, Gray Ghosts, etc. out there that cost way more. I don't think the Koss offer individual volume control, but has anybody used them and liked them? I have a buddy who uses the DetectorPro Rattlers, which are nice because they're just one phone instead of two. He likes them because he can always keep one ear open when hunting tot lots. I kinda like those too but I'm not sure exactly what I'm after just yet! I mainly want to get a decent set of headphones that will keep me from missing those faint signals! One HUGE thing for me-I have some hearing issues! Nothing diagnosed, but too much shooting without hearing protection has me missing really high frequency sounds altogether and I'm not sure what else I don't hear. So far I don't think I'm actually missing much, but I just don't know for sure!

Minelab includes a set of UR-30's with their FBS detectors. I've used them on several detectors and do like the way they reproduce the lower tones. They have nice soft pads and fit fairly well. However, as you said, they do not have any volume controls. That is one of the reasons I like my Gray Ghosts. That and they fit my huge melon!
You mentioned a slight hearing loss..... if it is the same in both ears, you'll probably get along fine with a set of headphones without volume controls. But if one ear is worse than the other, balancing out the sounds with individual volume controls makes for better interpretation of the tones. JMHO HH Randy

Thanks Randy, that's kinda what I was thinking about the hearing loss too. I'll have to wait a bit for the higher end 'phones I guess!
