headphone problem

Well-known member
I just sent my stock headphones in a few months ago with my At/Pro and tried them Sunday and they just didn't work like they used too or maybe I've just been using the grey ghost amphibian headphones too long. Hate to send them back again , but like the idea of having backup headphones. I try and use them when I hunt on land and this is the 2nd time in 6 months and I like them in the water because they are more comfortable than the grey ghost headphones. I know they have to fit tighter in the water, but the stock headphones are what I prefer on land. Does anybody notice a difference in the way pennies and other coins sound with the stock and with the grey ghost headphones or am I the joker in the deck here? Lot louder with the grey ghost and higher dvi reading also. Another problem I seem to be having is the iron audio seems to work when it's off louder than when I push the button to activate it. I tried increasing the discrimination to see if that made a difference, but it doesn't. Maybe I just need to get out more? HH.

I use Grey Ghost phones the majority of the time. When not, Black Widow's. To my ears there is a vast difference between them and the stock phones. Tones are sharper with the better quality phones and they bring in those soft whispers much better, if the stock ones will at all. That's my perspective, anyway. HH jim tn

Somebody (perhaps a distributor/mfg. of aftermarket phones) ought do do a youtube video/audio of the diff between the stock phones and the aftermarket ones they are selling, so a guy can go there and watch and listen to hear the actual in field difference...I run the stock blues on my Pro, and use the stock Garrett land headphones I also got with the Pro on my F70, (after cutting off the Garrett plug and soldering on a 1/4"jack)

I'd spring for aftermarket phones if I could listen to the diff before purchase, and make a decision based on that... one thing, a guy cant find what he cant hear...

There is a definite difference with the tones between the two. The Garrett phones have a lower deeper tone. The Grey Ghosts have a more treble tone to them. When you get used to one pair, trying the other one sounds weird.

I went back to the grey ghosts. I really like the tone on coins with the stock headphones, but will just keep them as backups for now.

I am with you mud.IHàve a problem with my amph. Head phone. No matter how I adjus the volume it is not loud enough.
