Headphone malfunction anyone?

I've had my at pro for about a year. Loved this machine, and have nothing but rave reviews for Garrett's line. But recently I've been experiencing a bad connection where my headphones cord enters the male threaded end that couples to the main unit. I'm not a electronic genius, but I'm sure there's a fray or bad connection inside. Any troubleshooting tips, or ideas without sending it in? I appreciate all info, probably just order another set for backup and send those in to be checked out at some point. The main problem is the sound cutting out defaulting to the main unit speaker until I manipulate the connection to get phones working again. Thank u and h/h y'all

The plug is actually two plugs in one. Check if everything's still fastened well. The second plug along with the wire and headphone will actually pop away from the end if you pull hard enough. (Don't try it).

I have successfully repaired one connector -same connector is used on the ATseries as the Infinium. BUT I will never do it again.
I was certified NASA micro-miniature repair (a 4 week school) while in the Navy and have done some strange repairs to say the least.
BUT the Garrett connector is put together so it will NEVER come apart. They have used some really GREAT potting material.
Garrett did not repair one set of headphones I sent to them. What they did instead was to give me credit on a new set...fair enough for me.
Wonderful service without any of the aggravation.
You are correct, the wires will break and pull apart at the connector. That is why Garrett added a cable clamp under the arm rest. My original ATPro does not have one.

Had the same trouble with my grey ghost headphones last month. Had to bend the cord where it attached to AT gold back onto itself, very hard bend to get it to work. Sent back to grey ghost and they said they tested them and could find nothing wrong with them, but replaced the cord anyway. Have had no trouble since.

Seems to be a common ailment. With my water head phoes I have put a cement around the connectors into the ear piece. Good luck on the issue and further hunts1
