Do you think this can be done? Take the headphone wire kit for the AT pro cut the wire about 1 inch from the rear plug then drill a small hole under the screw on connector in the alum. stem. Then fish the cut end through the alum. handle out the plug hole, then splice the wire together. Then you could cement the connector in place. This would be neat no wire exposed only a couple of inches under front of connector. You can tell i really want to use my killer Bs with this AT but wires all on the outside i can not handle. What do you think?
Thanks, Joe.

It could be done, but then it would be permanently fixed as a land machine, as connector isn't water proof at it's distal end.

All this screwing around with headphone adapters and wires all over the place is just that - SCREWING AROUND. What we really need to convince Garrett to do is give us a decent and compact wireless or blue tooth headphone interface. This is not rocket science. GARRETT ARE YOU LISTENING?

Seconded. I'd like to go wireless, but $30 for a $5 adapter kinda tweaks my beak! BTW, anyone tried the Auvio wireless ear buds? A hat comes in handy around her in the summertime...

I recently bought a set of Garrett waterproof headphones so it came as no great sacrifice when I cut the "waterproof" connector off my Garrett standard land headphones, leaving about 9 inches of lead on the end of the connector. I then soldered a standard headphone plug onto the standard Garrett land headphones. [sub](I can now use these on any of my minelab detectors.)[/sub]

I then purchased a "female headphone socket" from Jacar Electronics. I cut a small piece of 19mm electrical conduit about 100mm long & purchased 2 endcaps for either end.

On one endcap I drilled a small hole just big enough to feed the 9 inch tail of the original Garrett waterproof headphone connector through. The tail was then slid through the conduit & the female headphone socket soldered on. The other endcap was then pushed over the headphone socket completeing this simple mod. Total cost was $4.50.

I can still use the original Garrett land headset through the adaptor & use the headphones on all my other detectors.
