Headphone Jack Extension

Does anyone know where I can get a 18 inch headphone extension cable with a 90 degree 1/4 inch male plug on one end and a straight 1/4 inch female plug on the other end?

I'd like to use it on my Tesoro detectors and Teknetics G2 detector. Having the headphone jack behind or near the armrest would a big plus.

If they don't make them, they should.

Why yes I do!

B&H Photo Video Pro Audio...you can find them googling I am sure..
big website...really cheap and fast...I got a 1/4" stereo plug 3' wire assembly last year, .....with shipping the whole deal was about 5 bucks:thumbup: (make sure you get the "stereo" plugs)...

drop down to the Modifications forum and see on the first post "ATPro headphone wiring"

Thanks Mud. I'm really looking for a ready made one. Everybody would one if the price was right.

Have you tried your local Radio Shack?

No. That's a good suggestion. Thanks!

Well...I've been looking for the critter you desire...unsuccessfully so far...When I was trying to do my project, I went to the Radio Shack and a lot of music stores and finally just started googling 1/4" audio cables...

I think thats why I just bought that 3' rt angle 1/4"male to rt angle 1/4"male stereo extension, cut it in half, and soldered on a length to my headphone cable, sent the other half to another Forum member here so he could do the same thing...it was easy and fast to do....what you may have to do is the same thing, get that 3' rt angle extension, cut it in half, buy 2 female plugs, solder them on to the ends, then you have one for yourself, and one you can SELL to one of us here!

I have the AtPro headphone connector left here that I will solder on a female plug to and sell it to somebody, since I converted the land phones that came with the AT to a rt angle plug to use on my F...I use the blue water headphones on the Pro...

Mud that looks like what I'm going to have to do. The headphone jack being on the side of the control box on my G2 really bugs me a lot.

I'm not sure if I can get two pieces long enough from a 3 footer since it's a 'T' handle.

Two halves may be long enough for my Tesoros with the headphone plugin being right in front of the arm cuff.

I can secure it to the rod with some Velcro or with some tape.

Mud you're a very sharp minded individual.

Thanks

Problem solved. They make it in a 10' cable for around $5 bucks.

Mud which female plug did you use. I might try my hand at soldering. I'll need brush up some.

Heck...its so easy...any really light weight female plug will work...if I ever get down your way, which I might in April, I'll whip one up for you before the grits are done boiling...theres a supply outfit out of missouri, cant remember the name right now, I was googling stuff at 4:30 am today hunting for the perfect fit for you..(snowing to be damned and couldnt sleep).anyway, you are right, you can whip up a bunch of these things so you can use your headphones on ALL of your detectors...you can even buy the dual "Y" fittings so if you ever wanted to teach somebody, they could plug their headphones into your machine and hear what you are hearing...i'm no electronics wiz, just a tinker,
Mud

Maybe a 'Y' fitting with two different size plugs. One for your regular headphones and the smaller jack for some lighter headphones or ear buds.

I've been doing some figuring. A 90 degree 1/4 inch stereo jack plug on one end of a 2 foot cable and a straight 1/4 inch stereo socket on the other end of the cable.

That would be long enough to work on both the S rods and T handle detectors. Now why doesn't a after market company build some of these?

I'd buy one.

I dont know, but I seriously crawled the interweb looking for the exact same thing early today..couple of hours and a whole pot of coffee....theres plenty of straights, but none I could find with a stereo rt angle male, to a 1/4 female with 2' of cable...and I looked...not that I'm an expert at interweb shopping...so I gave up as I'm apt to do when things get tough.

We need one of the smart guys on the forum to do us a detail drawing of what we want so we can send it to someone who could make them for us.

A bet the guy at 'dealextreme' could get them made really cheap if he knew exactly what we wanted.

tabman

Heck, I bet Ralph at SunRay could whip a dozen of these up blindfolded by lunchtime...he would know exactly what you are talking about.
Mud

I bet they would sell like hot cakes if they were price right!

Mod finished.

It's so much better to swing now.
