headphone connection confusion

About 2 months ago I noticed my headphones acting weird the odd time, I checked the connection and it seemed good. I took it apart 2 weeks ago to put some die-electric grease on the fitting and o-ring. I had the exact same thing happen as Upnorth did. I emailed Garret head office with my situation. Norma at Garrett was helpful with directing me to the eastern dealer here. I did a forward of the conversation with Garrett, it's now actually over 2 weeks and still have heard nothing regarding the situation.

So apparently I am really not to impressed with the service at this point. I purchased the complete package from leading edge hobbies in Kingston and they are willing to middle man this for me. I quite taken back by the fact that my mail has not been replied to as of yet. I decided to buy Garrett based on it's versatility and what I had heard about customer service.

That's my rant lol.

As soon as I get pics done I have lots to show for almost a month of detecting, hh ev1.

That's the problem, some dealers want to sell a detector but shy away from dealing with warranty issues.

Why go to the dealer for repairs?? Ship that puppy to Garrett and have it back in a week or so. Be sure to include the repair form from their website and call and get a repair number before you ship it.

Thanks guys for your thoughts, Norma at Garrett wants it dealt with through the dealer here in Canada, I did receive a mail from her today stating she will be in touch with the dealer and they will contact me. Not a way I choose to do things but depending on what is said by the dealer that will decide where the unit gets shipped. I also don't know how it will be going through customs and back again, all I want is the unit fixed and now there is an issue with the faceplate where it looks like a 3 inch long by half inch wide water bubble, right across the vdi lol. It'll get sorted either way. If there is still an issue then Garrett needs to re-think the dealers involvement regarding warranty and repairs!

Hmmm. When I had machine issues I took pictures and emailed them to the distributer. I bought my machine from Middlesex detectors in Ontario. And Middlesex buys their machines from Canadian Treasure Seekers, as I found out through this process. I got hold of C.T.S. who looked at the pictures and got the machines serial number etc. As far as I know an arm cuff and land phones are being shipped. I suppose that I could have saved a few bucks by buying directly from C.T.S. (the main eastern distributor up here), but I didn't know that. But did I really save much $ ? I bought the land and water package and a few extra goodies were tossed in by Middlesex. An extra finds bag a loup. But more importantly when I lost one of my Tejon battery holders, Middlesex shiped one to me for free. I was more than willing to pay for it, but I payed zero. I have had nothing but great service from Garrett and its distributors\dealers. It is unfortunate that you have experienced some snags.

I received a new set of headphones from Garrett no charge yesterday, that impressed me. To date I have not heard a word from CTS, the eastern Ontario dealer for Garrett, that does not impress me one bit. The phones were sent to me after I sent a detailed message to Garrett, (Norma there), regarding the lack of service from the Canadian rep here, CTS. It was then I received an email from the company I purchased the complete package from that they are going to be shipped. At least 3 weeks it took to get a resolve on the issue, There is currently an email with pictures of the screen issue that I sent to Garrett to assess, that was about 2 weeks ago, I sent a reminder to Norma regarding the picture quality of the issue yesterday, so we'll see what happens with this issue.I detect almost every day and its really tough to see the screen with the bubble thing going on. I noticed on the headphone thread by UN he is having the same screen issue.

The cool part of it all is I am back detecting in silent mode lol, cheers ev1 and HH

The last I heard from CTS was an email request from them for my machines serial number. Then nothing, no shipping notice or follow up. It's been a week so far of being in the blind and I'm trying to be patient.
