Headphone Adapter.

Retired Digger

AT Pro is great, but warm weather is not too far off and I will want a lighter weight set of headphones. I am patiently waiting for Garrett to release the adapter, but was curious if any headphone manufactures were working on (or already have) headphones with a Garrett type connector. I think there would be a lot of demand. Just curious if anyone knows. Thanks for your input.

Pretty sure that Garrett holds a patent or something for the adapter. We have two choices. Wait or cut the cord and make our own. I was planning on taking the stock phones waist deep. So I need to be water tight at the box. I guess the AT Pro stays out of the water. I'm not waiting another month.

goodmore,

My dealer told me the stock headphone is waterproof at the connection to the control box before I bought the machine.

So last weekend my wife and I went in up to chest deep at are favorite freshwater beach.

We were in the water with it for 5 hours on and off.

No problems.

Just keep the ear phones up out of the water, the connection is fine.

Good Hunting

Hi fellow At Pro users!

So I pre-paid for the elusive adaptor, in February... I have a great set of headphones that I used with my _______ (other) detector. The cord is longer and the headphones have extreme clarity..... When I placed my adaptor order with Garrett the gave me the impression that it would be a week before delivery.... Don't get me wrong, I love my At PRO... I wish they would let us know why there is a delay. Garrett is still tops in customer service.:heh:

I ordered waterproofs [abt $60] with my AT PRO. I mostly hunt lakes, and do not dive. Haven't even tried my waterproofs yet. [To much hassle] and I don't really need them. Now ocean hunters & divers, thats another story. I have 3 Garretts a 1500 a 250 and the Pro. Each of them has a job to fill, and fill them good they do.

Yeh I ordered mine also in Feb and have not received it yet....production delay I was told.

Alan

I don't know why Garrett did not have them ready at introduction. They had to know there would be a demand for them as many people are attached to the headphones they currently use.

I sure hope they get the adaptor built before summer. I am not much of a fan of the stock headphones. I like my grey ghosts.

On one hand, you would think that Garrett recognized the need early on and would have had them ready at the very beginning. But you could also think that by delaying a bit, they would create a pent up demand and would sell more. Just a thought. I ordered mine a week ago and was given no time frame on delivery.

Just cut the cord on the stock ones add a stereo female Jack from radio shack and you are good to go. Solder three wires that is it. Takes about 15 min. Made mine after one trip out with the phones that came with it.

Yes but like I said. The stock phones can be used in the water as long as you don't get your head wet. You cut the end off and solder on a female connection you lose the water tight connection and have nothing to use in the water. I want the adapter for versatility.

I could cut the cord and fab an adapter, but I want to preserve the waterproof capabilities of the stock headphone connection. Don't know when I'll need them, but if I cut off the fitting there is no going back.

I love my AT PRO but the stock phones I would not use to hunt for any thing so uncomfortable compared to my good phones. I used them for two hunts about a hour each and took the wire cutters to them. I do have a set of waterproof ones that I ha e not used. I have no use for the stock ones at all.
