Headphone Adapter For Equinox

RLOH

Well-known member
A month or so ago I read a post about an aftermarket headphone adapter. As I remember, someone was using one that was a fraction of the cost of the factory part. I follow many forums, but I think I read it here. If anyone know of an alternative adapter, please let me know. Thanks

I personally have gone thru multiple adaptors that didn't last. Then you are limited to the ones that are wired correctly .
I bit the bullet and bought the factory one when they first came out and have had no issues.

Still waiting on a quality set of land headphones that plug in directly to the 1/8 inch Equinox.

Ditto! Payed the $40 and now spend time detecting instead of wasting time trying to save a few bucks. I wasted a lot of time and money and should have gotten the adapter in the first place.

Me too! I was disappointed that my Sunray Golds won't work..

Thanks guys. 40 bucks is pretty steep for that item, but I am not an electronics wizard so I will just pay the price and move on.

I’ve just been using the wireless headphones provided with the 800 . No problems so far , but I have been wanting to try out my Sunray Pro Golds with it. Are you saying that they won’t work even with the adapter ??

Pro Golds are 150 ohm and I was told by a very knowledgeable member here that they will not work with the Equinox.

I also bit the bullet and purchased the Minelab adapter and now all is OK. Yes, it is costly but buy it and forget all your problems with the cheap junk.

There are a few now that are water proof that are good phones....... those using audiosear speakers 150 ohm which is the same as MOST quality phone. What they may lack is the comfort soft ear muff that reduce noise or some stuffing inside the phones. The speaker are clear and crisp .... some of the water phones use piezos not quit as loud but offer some modulation of targets. Put a pair of gel muffs on those with speakers and they are as good as any other land phones....... volume and tone wise.

Sunrays work on the wm10 if you have the model with the three position switch, same ones that work on ctx machines.

Ones with the red volume knobs.

It all depends on what headphones you plan to use and how they are internally wired.
The Minelab headphone adapter is made for use with their headphones.
With others, you may also need to use a stereo to mono adapter to kill the sound from the detector. Same way for the Minelab CTX 3030.

Home made adapter cables can be made or wired internally so they work properly with most all headphones, no need for additional adapters.
