Heading to the Key West Florida Wednesday morning...

Any tips, like should I even take my detector? I never been there and heard the beaches are man made and rocky? I did here that Mel Fisher museum's down there.

Not much for beach in the keys....coral and limestone....a lot of protected areas...haven't been to the museum since the early 70s,before he discovered the mother load(the Atocha ?)Back then you could buy shares in Mel Fisher's Co for as little as $100 dollars at the museum......Your just hours from Miami,that's the beach to hit!!!HH bob.oz

Yes the few beaches in the Keys are trucked in though you might have a chance at fresh drops. Make sure where you hunt is legal. National and state parks are out of bounds and there's lots of them through the Keys. Watch out for the pickpockets on the square and in the tourist bars. Never argue with the police, no tolerance for BS on their part and being a former Keys resident I can understand why!
