Hello everyone, Mid February my dad and I are going to make a trip down to Florida to do some beach detecting. We will be hitting a beach just south of Jacksonville the first day then heading down to the Fort Pierce area to hopefully get some 1715 fleet treasure . I will be taking my excal II and Elite. My question is would I be stupid to not get a larger aftermarket coil for the Elite. I know the beaches around there have been gone over many many times and I want to have the best chance of finding something that I can. I want a larger coil anyway but money is tight right now and Im running out of time. Also I want to get a good set of headphones and need a 2 piece scoop that I can take on the plane. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

My two cents is yes, go for the bigger coil. I recently went down to Key West for a few days and sweep several beaches that a few old pros hit every morning, according to the locals. I used a Garrett ACE 250 I had bought for my wife (Really easy to travel with, packs in to small suit case) and a 12' coil and I still was pulling silver out of the sand at 6+" about every 5 or 6 feet. I was frankly very surprised I did so well. Let us know how you did....

an ecal 2 is perfect with 10' coil imo.....does just fine on the beaches here in fla..if you put the coil over the target and you hear it then just dig it..:detecting::minelab::thumbup:
just take your time and sweep slowly, dont try to cover the whole east coast in a weekend...youll really miss out on allot of stuff then if you do..
good luck on your hunt, im sure ill run into you on the beaches...:detecting:
