Heading out for another afternoon hunt, trying something new

Heading back to the "silver mine" park, gonna try auto GB, then lowering it 20 points manually. Saw a post that said that makes the detector find silver, etc at a deeper depth. Gonna test it. Wish me luck.

Good luck. hope you can post some pics. I keep hearing about manually lowering the gb once you do it automatically. gots me curious.

Let us know how that works when you lower the ground balance

Curious about this also. Seems to be adding depth to the machine. If this is true it will help in my decision to purchase this detector.

Ok as follows; my findings on manually lowering the GB 10-20 points after automatically setting it.

Pro's: Definitely adds depth.

Cons: PP goes wonky and alot of falsing even with sensitivity set to 4-5.

The falsing I can live with, the PP working half the time....maybe.

It definitely works, as I found a 1944 George VI Penny not 2ft from where I got the "J" Nickle. Same ground I've been over 6 times now, in different modes.

1. Discrim at 40
2. Discrim at 25
3. Zero Discrim
4. Zero Discrim and lowering GB manually 10 points.

End result, yes it adds depth, but has cons. Once I get my 5x8 coil I'll test that with both auto and manual GB in the same spots. Then I'll decide if it's worth it.

I am gonna have to try this. Thanks for posting your results. I am wondering how far the gb needs to be lowered before depth comes into play. maybe its possible to gain some depth yet keep the pp stable. interesting.
