Headhunter Wader Detector

I'm researching the Headhunter Wader unit to use on the beach. I would like to get some feedback from those of you that are using the same unit. Sounds great.... and are the headphones the best on the market or can you upgrade?

It is a very good machine for the salt water, I have one along with the Minelab Excal. Whatever the Excal finds, the Wader will find with just about the same depth. It is very lightweight and there is no "box" to worry about. My husband uses the Wader and is thrilled with the way it performs, there is no mistake when you hit a target in the water. It also works very well in wet, damp and dry sand. I have heard that it does not perform well on highly mineralized beaches, but we have a lot of black sand on our beaches in Connecticut and there is no problem. We have used both machines in Virginia Beach and the Wader performed very well. The 8" coil is nice for the surf and it glides easily. The 10" coil may get tossed around a bit in surf. The headphones are NOT interchangeable since the operating "guts" are in them.

Don't know if your gonna hunt surf or freshwater but I've never had trouble anywhere. Great seperation in trash and have pulled out some of my best finds out of "hunted out" beaches after the others have gone home. You won't be dissappointed.
Good Hunting

WOW, thanks for the quick reply and time. I just started this tonight and already got 2 responses back. One said he has some trouble cause he was in "black sand". Not sure how thats different from the beaches of the Gulf Coast here in Florida. YES, I will be salt water wading and surf, dry sand.

OOOPS, I didn't read the other response that well, I guess. anyway the Wader sounds great . Thanks so much

Both my son and I have Waders that we use at the beach. It's an incredible machine, in my opinion, for the price. It's light, sensitive, stable, with great depth. Our SoCal beaches are often tricky due to black sand and other iron, but the Wader has really overcome these potential problems. I've also used my Wader as a backup machine on land with great results, too. Recently used it to pop out a couple wheatback pennies in a local park at 6-7 inches. Also, some of my best gold finds have come with the Wader, both on land and at the beach.

HH,

Dan

Thank you Dan. Some say the black sand causes issues with the wader. Glad to hear some positive feedback w/ black sand.
