Headed north again this weekend and had a ball

the weather was just perfect and the water in the river was warm enough that I could get in and enjoy it.

We hauled a couple hundred bottles and and other assorted trash out of the 16 mile run and it is much better for it. We saw some mink and other water animals and the deer were out back quite often.

It was getting pretty late the other evening and I had to set the camera up to Twiligt setting. A doe and two fawns came in and I tried for a shot or two. The problem with the Twilight setting is that the shutter speed is pretty slow and all of my pictures have some blur in them. Three of them will not stand still!!

I planted a bunch more Hostus and they are doing fine. The electric fence seems to be doing its job.

We have a cat coming in and the darned thing is eating corn on the cob! I threw it out for the deer and the cat comes and gets it. I like cats but don't like them killing my birds and I have found a few of this suckers kills. I would live trap her and relocate her if I was sure she was feral but I would not want to do it to someones pet. She seems to be nursing too so I don't want the babys to starve. Maybe later.

Something tore my suet feeder off the oak tree and mashed it. I had a heck of a time trying to straighten it out and it makes me think it was a bear. There is no dang coon gonna bend something that I can not!!

We were down at the loading spot and I saw a hairy sucker getting sprayed with OFF. That sucker looked like he had a dang pelt! Mary is always saying I am hairy and since I can not see my dang back and never spent much time trying, I asked her if I had as much hair as that nasty looking sucker!! She said I had MORE!! Now that pisses me off and I am gonna get my dang backed waxed! I ain't about to go around scaring little kids because I look like a dang Polar Bear!! She says the dang hair is WHITE!! Whouda thunk it?? I gotta go buy a back looking mirror tomorrow!!

It rained and thundered all last night and I got little sleep. I called my buddy, who lives 4 miles from us and he is out of power, at least he was when we left. The guy next door to him had two trees fall on his roof!! What a mess. My butt is dragging!!

My dad died of a heart attack at the age of 40 so I decided to get a calcium scoring test. It is a new test that insurance will not pay for yet, costs 300 bucks, but I figured a person ought to know what their arteries are doing. It is a cat scan of the heart and arteries.

My doc just called and said it looked good. She said a score of over 100 is getting bad and mine is 13. Now I am happy to hear that.

Well that is all that is new for me, the garage is half done and I expect to get in contact with a realitor this week.

I will have to get to reading and responding tomorrow as I am tired!!

it was not just yer rugged good looks ;) Mike and i explained to folks that we had caught you out in the bush and were taking you to the Zoo, but needed to clean you up first <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm799YYCA' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_72.gif' alt='Too Funny' border=0></a>
Wax!:stars: Have fun ya "Apeman"!

You guys just ain't right, ya dummy :D

to report after you come back from Roscommon. The fences do the trick, and you still get the advantage of enjoying the wildlife.

The only pointer I can give you about having your back waxed is to let a professional do it. It hurts less than a prostrate exam..........if that is any condolence. Plus, having a smooth back may make Mary a little "fiesty". You will love the outcome!

Glad your tests came back okay! You seem to be really fit, but with a history of heart problems in your family, it never hurts to be checked.

Did you ever have your sleep study done?

Later, Sunny

old trash or are people still putting stuff in there.i bet there's hordes of beer cans in a river i use to innertube down when i was younger, don't remember letting any float to the bottom but i might have.if they ever quit releasing water from the dam above,i'd bet someone could make some good money on the aluminium.

do those mink ever bite people when they are in the water,i know the are related to the otter, always wondered if they did.

glad your scan deal came out alright, you must have your mother's arteries, sorry your dad died young.

If it was a bear that tore up your suet feeder, take a picture if you actually spot it, OK? That is a lot of bottles and trash taken from the river, how do you dispose of them?

Nice photo of the deer, especially being taken hand held with a slow shutter speed...those two baby deer are starting to grow fast. Thanks for sharing with us, gave some of us an exciting weekend too! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

Many of the ones that we got this weekend were gotten because I could get out of the kayak and retreve them. They are in a little deeper water and some were made before the canners changed to pop tops. Some old beer bottles were found too and they are useless without a USP lable, or what ever it is called. We save all the return money in a jar and bought the last canoe with it.

Don't you worry Cowboy! If I see a bear I will take a picture. That is for sure.

I used a Twilight setting with a tripod and also used the timer to click the shutter. The problem is the doe moved her head as it snapped. Nothing I could do about it. It was almost dark at the time and I was amazed I could get what I did.

Man is this weather miserable, for Michigan. It was well over 80 when I got up with a very high humindity!! This sucks. I have been painting the garage and have the lawn to mow but I figure it just might have to wait a day or two. It is gonna cool down.
