head phones

Hey fellow diggers, I just bought the ace 250 (second hand), I moved up from the bounty hunter iv. Well, everything is great except when I plug in my head phones the sound does not work in the head phones. It still works in the bounty hunter but not the 250. Do I need a special set of head phones? The one I use now I have an adapter to fit the metal detector. Any help on this would be greatfull Bill...

Some phones are mono only and some are stereo and some have a switch for either. Some for adapter plugs are only for one or the other. Do the phones themselves have a mono/stereo switch? If they do and you still don't get sound on either setting the problem is the adapter plug or the machine. Did you ask the previous owner if it worked with phones when he owned it? Could be a problem with the machine too. I don't know if BH uses mono or stereo output or what the Ace uses, but I use stereo setting on my older Garrett phones on my three Garrett machines.

Thanks for the info gunsil, the head phones have a noise cancel feature that I don't use with the detector. [no batteries] I'm going to find another pair to check it with though. The Garrett I bought was from a pawn shop, so it was as is. It works great, I was just wanting to do it a little less noisy. Thanks again gunsil
