So I am wondering what brand of headphones is every one using??? I have been using the pair of Koss that came with my SE,,, I was told a better pair could really make a difference?? I am looking at a pair of Grey Ghost NTD's,,, Anyone have any suggestion's????

I imagine the NDTs are the same.
 
This is something that I have been thinking about since I got my SE. I had never used any headphones so I dont know how to compare them to the good ones. I may go ahead and get a pair of the SunRay Golds as I have been told that they and the Ratphones are hard to beat. Until I get a pair and try them I wont know for sure if they are better than the Koss 30's and that will continue to bug the tar out of me. :biggrin:
 
I use the same phones that came with my explorer also..and as long as you can hear ok, I would say thats fine. Mine are the koss also and I lke them. I would use the money on a different coil youve haqd your eye on instead..just my opinion..good luck !!:usaflag:
 
I use the RAT's and like them, I use to use Killer b wasps and thought they were a little clearer. I have never used the KOSS
 
Myself I am very hard of hearing and tried many differnt one on my Explorer, E Trac and the Sovereign and found for the Explorer and the E-Trac the Troy Pros have the best volume and tones for me. Now the Sovereign the Timberwolfs Lobo,Predditor and the FMW (I think that is what they are called) have the best volume and the tones are the best for me as I can tell just by the tones what the target is. Now for others they may be too loud for them and the other set I recommend highly is the Sun Ray Pro Golds on the Explorers as most that have them love them.
 
Your best bet is if you have a local dealer, go and try a few on and see what a good pair of headphones sound like. It makes a big diff. But you may or may not like what others like. They are for you to decide.

If you don't have a local dealer, then if you have a few buds you go detecting with, try theirs and see if you like them.
I know alot of folks like the Sunray pro golds, but they are not for me..I have tried them and didn't like them.....I have GG Ultimates and love them, also have the Killer bees and love them...but will you? That is trial and error...who know's......
 
I love my Sun Ray headphone.
 
I had the Ratphones, found them a bit uncomfortable after a few hours of use. The Black widows cord wasn't long enough for me to stand up while my detector was on the ground. The Sunray Golds seem to be the best for me thus far, I have no complaints at all with them.
 
Used the koss stock headphones for a while then got a set of killer B's. noted that the sound in the B,s is clearer compared to the Koss. The limiter keeps a solid hit from blowing your ears out. I like turning the volume up to max on the machine and then controlling it with the volume knob on the headset. Don't throw the koss away, they are good and you can find a lot of targets with them. Koss I think are more of an all around headphone and OK for detecting but just not made specifically for that. The ones I purchased were around 80.00 bucks. Nice to have but put your money into a nice coil first, that will make a bigger difference than the headphones.
 
The sunray are sweet...if you have big ears don"t get the sunray!....they are great headphones otherwise...they are what I use...sometimes my right ear..get pinched a little,
but I just ajust them....I like how they are not to big. The tones are great on the SE!!!.........the limiter is a littlle wierd....seems like it works sometimes and sometimes not...but I would still not give them up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........I think them and the explorer are a match made in heaven.......take it easy!....O NO I WAS THE LUCKY 13TH POST!!!
 
Thanks Every one!!!! And i will take your advice Mattockman!!!! I dont have a dealer around,,, But i do have a buddy with some older grey ghost,,, and another with the Sunray pro gold's... I don't know why i didn't think of that earlyer :rage: lol Again i appreciate it everyone!!!!
