Head phone problem

I have owned a T2 for two years. I have been using my Killer Bees headphones with no trouble, until the other day. I plugged them up and they did not work with my T2. I checked the headphones with my other detectors. Nothing wrong with the headphones. They worked fine in all of my other detectors. So, I tried a pair of Fisher, low 8 oms (?) speakers and they worked fine. I then called First Texas and spoke with a tech. He told me that the machine is not designed to use the high oms Killer Bees, Gray Ghost,.etc. It is designed to use the low 8 oms headphones. He said that the T2 will run them for a while but would default and not run the high oms, but will still run the low 8 oms phones. I don't know if anyone else has had the same problem with their T2. I can only run my 8 oms Fisher phones now. It will not run the Killer Bees. Thanks

Never heard that before with any of the top headphones. I will say that I have seen this happen before with some headphones will work on one detector and not another. When you tried them on another detector did you have to switch the toggle switch to stereo or mono to get them to work?? If you did I think you will have a broken wire in the cable of the headphones. I have seen this happen many times over the years as if one wire is broke it will work on brand and not another. I would try to find some other brands of detectors where you have to switch that toggle switch and see if it will work on both of them. I have a feeling it may not work on both of them. Like I say I have seen it many times before.

Dirttrax...I think your problem might be in the Killer Bees themselves. The Bees have a "stereo-mono" switch on them that, if not functioning properly, may have renedered them in the position that will not operate. This can be a broken wire in the headset or either the "stereo-mono" switch itself.

Not all metal detectors operate in stereo...not all operate in mono. Some do and some don't. Your other units probably are different in their wiring design and operate in the mode that the Bees have defaulted to. This is one reason I like to buy headphones with a "stereo-mono" switch installed. I can use them on all my other units if so desired.

("He said that the T2 will run them for a while but would default and not run the high oms, but will still run the low 8 oms phones.")

I'm no expert on these matters but I've never heard of what the Tech spoke of although it could possibly be that way with higher tech units designed today.

Try a different set of Bees or Grey Ghosts with a "stereo-mono" switch on your T2...I'll bet they work. Ohms do make a difference...but if your Bees worked on your T2 before, they should work again if repaired.

Just my thoughts on the matter...hope this helps. You've got a great combo with the T2 and the Bees. HH
