I ended up getting the Excal II. But , the Sea Hunter Mark II and the Tiger shark were both on my list as well. White's surf PI duel field is supposed to be great as well.
Good Luck !

You know that's a great machine, good choice! It really boils down to your personal preference is and what you are used to. Once you get used to interpreting the sounds the Excal is speaking to you, you will love it. It is a proven workhorse. Good luck to you and HH!

I've read that the Mark II is awesome ( the discrimination does'nt work well , so just dig all ). And DetectorPro products .....not so much. These comments are based on what I've read. I don't own either of those. But I was seriously thinking of buying the Mark II myself.

You can't go wrong with the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II. If you want a PI then discrimination is a non issue, just dig it all and except that fact before you buy it. I thought I would be frustrated digging all the junk, but I have changed my way of thinking. I am helping to clean up my local beaches and that is a small price to pay for all the fun I have with my Sea Hunter. I love the fact that I can detect in a downpour or walk into the water, snorkel, dive or wade and I don't have to worry about my machine. It is light, well balanced and if hip mounted you don't even notice it and the wand is so light you can go all day! I did however make myself a straight shaft for it, I am keeping the dive stem on the S shaft for when I dive with it, it's just a quick change over and I am ready to dive. If something happens to my SH, I am buying another.
