Yes, it was a dead machine because is out of warranty and had already been replaced several times for flooding.
But how can that be? We all know the flooding issue is a hoax? Right? According to some.

At first I didn't want to believe they where leaking but there is just to many people reporting they leaked.
I sold mine right after warranty ran out.

It's a real head scratcher that's for sure.
But it's really not funny, Most that actually use their Equinox machines Underwater for an extended period of time will be in his shoes someday.

He actually said the PERCENTAGE of failures was not that high -- a big difference.

With that said, though, in my opinion that's not a real helpful statistic, since I am pretty certain that only a very small percentage of Equinox users routinely use their machine submerged beyond the control pod IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO -- even if EVERY PERSON who routinely hunts in the water deeper than "control box deep" had their EQX fail eventually, it would still only be a "small percentage" of the total number of Equinoxes sold. Bottom line -- I'm not sure it would be true to say that only a "small percentage" of Equinoxes failed due to water intrusion, if you ONLY consider those who actually hunt their EQX routinely submerged. I think the "small percentage" thing that Minelab continues to point out, is a bit of a "red herring" in this case...

I've learned from his mistakes do not submerge for extended periods of time! I do for a few seconds thats it never had a problem especially with a detector thats out of warranty!

I really don't believe even the % is that low or ML would not have introduced the 700/900 in the first place. If the technology improvement was sufficient to create a new model the more logical approach would have been to introduce one model between the M-core and the 800. I firmly believe the 700/900 are just a corporate method of laying the ground work for a quicker discontinuation of the 6/8 Noxs becuase ML is bleeding itself dry with NOX repairs.

No one in the collective is going to oppose the corporative talking points.

I know one guy has had 6 replacement control units under warranty.
2 other have had 1 a piece.

Mine was damaged in a rain storm not in water!!!! Rain!!!! Of course I got a new unit but even it had to sent back because of batteries issues...

Anyone who the thinks the 600 and 800 Equinox Don't flood is delusional. I bet those who say they don't leak have probably never even owned a nox or took it underwater more than once.

I own a 600. Have got caught in the rain a few times. Never took it underwater. It does not leak.

I had mine submerged in a river two or three times without leaks, but the water wasn’t very deep, and not for extended periods of time.

I Don’t think it is a true water machine, and was never intended to be, but it was advertised to be water proof down to a certain depth, and, well…………..apparently not all of them are.
