Sounds like you need a tune up, if you have a warranty left then use it, if not then that is going to be a hard one to decide. Is it worth it to pay the fee's to have it worked on, or is it just going to be cheaper to buy another detector? I think I would just go for the upgrade and buy another detector.

Know on another note, have you tried all the stupid things, like coil wire connected good, is the coil wire good, are the batteries full charge, are you not disc'ing out the object without noticing it. lots of little things to go over.

I had that happen to me recently. I have a Land Ranger. I got it out the other day, put batteries in it, and while playing around with it before the hunt, realized it wouldn't pick up a quarter 4 inches from the coil. I had decided to send it in to First Texas to be fixed when a friend of mine suggested I change batteries. When I replied that the batteries were new, he replied," Change the BRAND of batteries".

Today I took out the old batteries (Duracell) and put in another brand (Energizer). Result: The Ranger will air test a quarter at 10". :clapping: I have no idea why this works but I'm definitely gonna remember it!
