Having Fun with the Ace 350

Went back to the same park that I found the seated liberty dime at last night.
OK, didn't really expect to find what I found today and I can't really validate what
it is. It is definitely heavy 4 oz. heavy. I'm puzzled because it looks the part, but
it was in the quarter dime area of the detector scale. I knew without a doubt I had
my first quarter of the day, man was I wrong. We bench tested this melt and only
can get it out of the quarter dime range once in a while. It will pop over to the jewelry
ring range. Might need to purchase a gold testing kit

Wow! that really is something. What state do you live in? good luck with the tests and keep us informed.

Conn. but my first thought it is brass, because this was actually green before I cleaned it up
I am not sure if this green is a natural patine or was something artificially produced to
hide the true nature of what it is. There are hash marks on the reverse side of this melt from a knife
that leads me to believe it definitely has been melted from its original state

take it to a coin shop they will test for you I found something like you found but not as gold looking my turn out to be junk but your look like the real thing JimCVA

I'm thinking a local jeweler or maybe a gold exchange would be better.
I brought a 14kt mens wedding band to the local jeweler. She tested it but didn't
offer me anything much for it. I brought it to a gold exchange and they gave me
about a hundred dollars more for the ring. I do think the jewelry store would test it but
it may raise question with her of why it is in a melted state.I am not sure if she would
remember me I brought the ring into the store in August. I explained the story to her
of how we found it on vacation on the beach with a borrowed Whites DFX metal detector.:garrett::shrug:

No I never had it checked my assumption is that it is brass or bronze. I was
thinking of getting a gold test kit and testing it myself. I guess I'm slightly apprehensive
going to a store, be it jewelery or other to have it checked especially if the conclusion
is that it is merely brass or bronze

right in that store and ask " If this is Gold how much are you offering??? Ya got nothing to lose.

Yeah your right I just figured it wasn't going anywhere.
I have a place that I would like to go to but it's on the way
to one of our job sites and it is about 40 minutes from the house
they are a gold and coin dealer and the prices are pretty close to
the current market. They have the ticker on the wall with the price
of gold at the moment.
