haven't purchased yet but have ? about Garrett ace series

As a newbie:confused: I am wondering about the difference between the ace 250 and the ace 300. And since I'm here would anyone have any advice about my choice of the ace series for a first time user. I live in Iowa so beach detecting is not likely. Also what accessories will I need to have. Thank you and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy, I'm new too and from all the forums Ive read they are all saying the same thing. "The Ace 250 is the best buy out there for the price range."
I just bought an older Garrett that I thought would work for better Gold nuggets, But it looks like I too will be getting the 250.
Good luck and HH Wayne

The treasure ace 300 is a discontinued model. You want
the ace 250, which is newer technology, and mo better.
As far as extras, you really don't need any to start out.
Just whatever digger tool, or probe you might want to use.
If you have money to burn, you might want to consider a
handheld pinpointer, or the clamp on version they sell
that fits the 250. Makes it easier to find stuff while
you are digging. but even that is not totally needed to
start out. Does make finding tiny dirty stuff a lot easier
though. They make two extra coils for the 250, but again,
the stock 9 inch coil is good enough to start out.

Hey KDbone:

I've had my Ace 250 for a month now, and also have the 4.5" Sniper Coil for working in close areas. It also makes pinpointing a breeze, but the stock coil is a snap , too, with just a little practice.

Got mine from Bill's Detector Sales

Great guy, Great prices, and a free digging tool, too!

I'm from Fort Dodge; how about you?

Oh, I forgot to mention, it has a good attraction to gold and is an incredible coin machine. Forget the ACE 300......

Hello Dick I am in Persia north of Council Bluffs. Where is Bills Detectors located? I would like to go to a store to see the detector before I buy. My wife agrees especially considering the cost.

Thanx for the help I had assumed the 300 was a new model because off the number I am glad I asked. I Appreciate all the help.

Hey KDB:

Bill's Detector Sales is in Alexandria, KY; just south of Cinn OH. Got acquainted with him through the MD Paradise Forum.

I can understand what you want, though. Maybe someone from this Forum is closer than me, that has one.

Good Luck & maybe we'll meet someday; never know:twodetecting:

Run do not walk away from the 300 and buy the 250. The 300 is an old model and the 250 is a new one and technologically light years ahead of the 300.

You'll need some digging tools. Start simple with a couple of screwdrivers, a hunting knife or small trowel for cutting plugs and slits ( not digging big ugly holes ), a tablespoon for scooping dirt out of holes, a phillips screwdriver with the end ground sharp with a flat tip for probing for coins, and a pouch of some kind should you choose.
