Nothing to post about for a while but I got out yesterday for a short hunt to an old spot.
I had found some wheats and a few IHs there before.
Some of the ground has been added in the past and some areas are original. I got a deep, fairly weak, repeatable signal and cut a plug. Signal better. still deeper (about 10 in.). Scooped out more then no signal in the hole. I scanned the dirt and thought I had lost the target. I moved some of the dirt around, rescanned and got actually a fairly weak signal. I almost fell over when I saw the reeded edge of a silver quarter !! Hey, I'll take a Washington! But wait - it was deep - why not something better?! That's when I saw the eagle of an SLQ.
I can't explain why the signal was initially weak when it was out of the hole in the dirt. I would have expected it to be "banging"! Seems by a little staining on the reverse there was some iron with it. Pardon the sideways photos - I'm not tech savvy.

Congrats on the great find! I collect that series and always look forward to seeing them posted- don't see too many in that good of shape. Hope you find many more!

That's one I've never found.
The SLQ is one of the most beautiful coins we've ever had.
Congrats.

Nice find! My favorite coin.....(not counting gold of course!) ;)

Very nice one - I have noticed that coins in the dirt pile often give a weak signal when you sweep with the detector. I think it's the loose soil, but don't know the technical reason. congrats.
