Haven't found one of these in a long time.

1864 two cent piece. One side is pretty roached, the date is tough to see but a cool find anyhow. Also came up with a 1906 Indian head in the same area.

Way To Go Butch!!

Sweet find Butch. I need to research some of the older parks in my area. I would love to get some of those finds you keep posting. Keep up the good search.

HH Rick,

Very nice Butch. Not too bad a shape. Nate and I would be estatic to find a coin that old in as good a shape. Nate found an IH yesterday and there was so much corrosion we could only get part of the date. It was one of those finds that when you look at it you say well I know it's a coin and it looks old.

Hi Bob
Yeah that was a real nice surprise I certainly wasn't expecting. How's the weather out your way? Its been sooo hot hear I can only stand it for an hour or two at a time. I think I've sweat off 10 lbs the last couple times out. I've located some great new sites but there off deep in the woods and right now if your not careful the mosquitoes will carry you away. They'll be good for late fall hunting. How's it going with the ExII? You got that thing figured out yet?

Thanks Rick. I was quite surprised with that one. Keep at it those older coins will show themselves.

That darn bronze rot got her but very nice find just the same, congrats. Looks like one I dug from the crazy lady call the cops park in Troy up near the top of the hill. Have to hit that spot since you purchased your Quattro?

Good guess Charles. Thats exactly where I found it. Crazy lady park. From the sounds of it not to far from where you got yours. I was working off the hill going towards the tennis courts on the back side. No sign of crazy lady today.

Exp II - kinda figured out. I love the Sunray probe on it but it makes the machine so dang heavy my hand gets numb after a few hours (carpel tunnel). Makes the Quattro feel like a lightweight. Still love the Quattro for those area's that don't have a lot of targets. Feel it gets deeper than the Exp II. Maybe just cause I'm not that experienced with it.

Hi Butch, love the coins. I was going to ask what sort of ground you found them in. What is the soil type over there like, and does it affect the bronze coins much? I don't think there are bronze coins to be found here, but I could be wrong or unaware of some of the coins to be found. I Hey Bob, I know what you mwean about carpul tunnel syndrome. I have it in both wrists, but for some reason the detector's weight doesn't bother me anymore, and I can detect all day without too much trouble. It's when I;m gardening it plays up, digging with the shovel, that sort of thing.

Hi Angela,
As far as mineralization goes, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst ours is about a 7. Most areas I've hunted over here have a clay soil. there are some areas which seem to be more of a sandy soil which is nice for digging. As far as coin condition due to the soil thats really hard to say. Some places I hunt are notorious for bad condition coins but occasionally you pull out some real nice ones. I think fertilizers that might have been used over the years have a lot to do with it also. It sure is nice to find some of the old ones in good shape once an awhile.
