Have you had this problem with your White's detector?

This is the second cuff that has broken on my MXT. When it breaks your hunt is over. The one bolt that holds the cuff is always coming loose and even when tight the detector is wobbly while you are swinging. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to solve the problem?

You most likely have been using the arm cup without the arm strap attached. Without the strap, a lot of stress is applied to the mounting area of the cuff.

Mr. Bill

No, I always use the strap. HH Dennis in Idaho

I had a cuff similarly break on my DFX about six months ago. I called White's and could only leave a message at the time. Two days later I ordered a replacement on-line and thought no more about it until four days later when White's returned my message and ended up sending me a free replacement.

Try calling them. You may be extended the same courtesy.

Hi, I did contact White's with the problem and today they are sending me a new cuff. How is that for service. HH Dennis in Idaho

I took a DFX in trade some time back. The Cuff was scared up some so I thought I would replace it. I noticed it came off real hard. When I put the new one on, it fit real loose. I suspect there are some cuffs out there that are of different size.I don't know which would break easiest, the loose one or the tight one.The loose one would for sure be the hardest to keep from moving around. I haven't tried it, but I wonder if you could put two bolts in the holes rather than one. They might not line up.Maybe it would be worth a try.

Only ever had the problem before I got my wife her own machine. I've got wide arms she's got thin so would squeeze the cup slightly to get a better fit.
The old Spectrum armrest would take it, the later/lighter design won't. Rather than keep paying out the

Your message was interesting. White's advised me that folks in Europe had a higher failure rate of the arm cuffs than anywhere else and the reason was that they made adjustments to the cuff like you. Frequently bending it to fit different size arms or bending it to fit with coats and bending it for just bare arms. They said that folks in Europe were advised that the frequent bending would result in failure. White's advised that after the warning the failure rate dropped. Interesting. I did not bend mine all that much, but I did bend it to put tension on the bolt to keep it from becoming loose. The one bolt design in my opinion is not a good one and it should have at least two to keep it stable and prevent the wobbling and squeaking. JMHO. Dennis in Idaho

Hi, Have had this problem with my DFX. My older Eagle / Spectrum had a thicker gauge metal and never gave me any problems. White's is no different than any other US company, always looking to save cash and increase profits. They thinned out the design and now we are paying the price. No offense to anyone who thinks that a quick response and a free arm cuff is good service, but just correct the gauge to where it once was. There was nothing wrong with it. But I solved my issue by drilling another hole through the shaft, securing another bolt to it, and tightening it well. Hope this helps. Don't get me wrong guys, I love my Whites (since 1974), but sometimes you just got to say it!

When I recieved my new replacement cuff from Whites, it was a heavier guage metal. I could not be happier? HH Dennis in Idaho

at least that is what I blamed mine on! I am especially hard on the XLPro arm cup as I sweep it faster. More torque, I suppose. HH Randy

You know Randy, you might be right, but with this new cuff White's sent me it will be a long time before I will be able to break it. It is heavy duty. Have a good one. HH Dennis in Idaho

In the U.K. they replaced the first one under warranty but if that broke then they said you were abusing the machine and had to pay. The fact they have upped the gauge proves they should have stuck with the original design.
