While metal detecting found this. Think it might be a meteorite . Has anyone ever seen one? Metal detector picks it up and magnet sticks to it.
 
its the size of a softball,weighs about 9 pounds!!!,has like pink an yellow flakes showing on on spot and i have a strong magnet and its sticks very well.hope it is ,thanks alot for the weigh in

He means a type of coal used in blast furnaces. I don't think those are magnetic though. It could be some sort of refinery slag, but it's worth having it looked at more closely by an expert.
Most meteorite falls are known, look up the location and see if any have been discovered in that area.

Where did you find it? Was it all by itself way out in the woods, or in a city/town type of area? If it was found way out away from human activity, it could be something other than some sort of scrap. Interesting find!
