Have you ever regretted selling or trading your finds?

About ten years ago I traded a 14K gold chain bracelet and a 14K gold wristwatch I found for a camcorder. Worst trade I ever made. That camcorder isn't worth beans now and that gold is as golden as ever. I sold a 1/3 carat diamond ring I found for $300. to a relative. Wish I could buy it back. I've stopped selling my stuff now because for the most part I've always regretted it later.

Your agonizing over a decision you made ten years ago, Get over it! And move on. The KEY word here is you FOUND it.
I happened to melt my FOUND targets for $$ and bought more equipment to FIND more of the same stuff.
Remember how great you felt finding that treasure? Good Hunting to you and all on this forum:thumbup:

So far the only things I have sold have been matchbox and related types of cars and scrap metal. I regret neither.

I enjoy seeing a child smile when they get a new to them car to play with in exchange for a dime or a quarter. When ever we set up a yard sale, the found cars that still have four rotating wheels go out for sale. Before I put the out, I google them to see if any are in the better collectible range; so far none have been.

Scrap lead, brass and copper pieces go into a box and every so often go the the metal recycler. I have gotten more cash from the recycled scrap metal found than I spend on quality alkaline batteries for the detectors over the same period.

I am quickly warming to the idea I have seen presented a number of times on this forum of wrapping up all the clad coins and selling the plain gold that you haven't become attached to for melt value and using the proceeds to buy quality coins, gold or otherwise to keep.

No regrets so far on this end.

You just have to dicipline yourself to reinvest your settlement checks back into bullion. Why hold onto karat gold, when you can have .999 fine I say? ARRRR, git cha some mate!

I have pictures of things that I found and you can't take it with you anyway. I miss some things but the memories are always there. I have lived off my finds and I can't think of anyhing better but to do what I love and get paid for doing it. This is my opinion anyway!!!

I took 80 grams of 14 kt. of Gold and had Chain and large eagle made ,that I wear all the time foe ME. Now that I have some thing I like ,I sell every thing else to midwest refinery. The Refinery send me Gold and Silver Bars and Lots & lots of money.

That is a heck of a nice list for just one year. The fact that you are living off your finds makes me a little envious. I'm still a slave to the time clock and some idiot bosses.

Regret is a total waste of time and energy! Better to devote that energy to enjoying the day you are living in. Been there done that.

I am a die hard Republican. I want to make money and take care of my family as best as possible. I sale all finds I can and keep digging holes to find more. I sure hope things get better this year 2009 with the economy. It scares me to think of a new president going to office with NO experience. I would rather have another Bush in office.

I think you are on to something turning your carat gold into bullion. Great looking stuff. I had some of my broken and crappy looking carat gold turned into a big honkin ring which I really enjoy.

Too cool! Here is Gulf Hunter's Ring, made with one of my Credit Suisse gold bars. The jeweler mixed it into 18K(.79 troy ozs.-had .49 troy ozs. left over, after it was done), my princess cut diamonds from a ring I recovered, but I had to buy the 1.25 carat burmese ruby and pay to put it together, would share the appraisal, but that is highly classified. I do not wear it to the beach, so don't be thinkin' yer gunna loot me, LOL!
