Have you ever had a relic walk up to you?

Lamar & I had one of the most unique experiences ever while out hunting. We have been hunting a combined 62 years and this experience ranks up there at the top.
We were searching for 3 Plantations that are within close proximity and used by the CS infantry and US cavalry as campsites. All three are on a small road off the main road. Problem was, we didn't know which side road was the right one. So we guessed and took the most obvious road, went down it, and then pulled off the road, and got out of the vehicle with the maps.
We still were not sure after looking over the maps. Next thing we knew a gray haired man on an old horse came over the hill. We stopped the man and asked if he knew were the 3 plantations are located. He said yes, and showed us. We were on the right road after all.
I noticed something different about the horse but not sure what until I moved in closer. I couldn't believe my eyes. I waited 10 mintutes to see if Lamar would notice since he was 5 feet from the horse. Well, his Walmart glasses were not working as usual so I said "notice anything different about the horse?" Lamar looked closer and said "oh my gosh, that is too cool". This old horse was wearing a US cavalry Bit with "US" Rosettes. We asked where he got those? He said locally out of the barn of one of the plantations. He had one more bit like the one on the horse and an Officer bit. We told the owner how much their worth but he didn't care cause they work better then any he has ever used. They are solid as a rock and STILL IN USE today.
This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The house pic below is one of the houses and the only one still standing. We can hunt all 3 house sites after turkey season thanks to the nice old man getting permission for us.

Should be some killer relics lying under all those weeds!

Should allow for some premo detecting. Keep us posted on how your doing. Good hunting, David
