I went to a new spot and thought it would be a good one. Not long after I got there I found a button back. Soon after that a couple bullets. Within a half hour I had 2 bullets, a few rivets and a button back. I thought wow this is going to be a good day maybe I found a good spot. 3 hours later I had a button back, 2 bullets and a few rivets. Man talk about disappointed.

I know what you mean, brother. But the times I aint expecting to find much and do real good or am surprised makes up for those bad times.Like the time I found these. I was looking on the perimiter of a small battle field here in Arkansas, looking in places I hoped other folks hadnt hunted and found 7 seated quarters, 2 half dimes and 23 dimes. All the coins were seated except for one dime and it was an 1836 one. Dates went from 1836 to 1860. Also found a "squared" up 3 ringer with 'em all so I know they fell out of a soldiers poke as he was trying to get away from the battle. There's more bad days than there are good ones but when I left the house that day I left just to kill a little time. But every now and then you have a good one and those you aint gonna forget. Keep plugging away and dont let it get you down...d2

Don't give up-work the area around the nice relics that you found in an ever expanding circle paying special attention toward water and high points for picket positions. If you find melted lead-you are there.Good Luck-you should find more nice relics.

Man D-2 that's a very nice chunk of change you got there. Those half dimes are awesome. Thanks for the confidence vote. I'll never give up .. it's not as easy to find spots as it used to.

Some days I find good stuff right off the bat and then...nothing else. Or I will go back to a site that I found good relics and ...nothing. Its almost like fishing. If I catch a nice fish on the first cast, then I know the rest will have lock jaw. But... if you keep trying, chances are you will find more of the good relics that we seek. Check out my post below. I tried this field twice and didn't find anything promising but I went back again because I just knew there had to be relics there and sure enough, they are there. Optimism and determination are assets that relic hunters must have. Keep swingin'!

Tim: very nice finds. Wish I could have days like yours. Believe you musk be correct about falling out of pokes or pockets. Regards to Kim. Dave
PM me re direction they were running re battle if you can.

hi jmorgan, i believe we've all had days and sites like that. but like a couple of the fellas said, the good days outweigh the bad. there's an old trick you can try - jack your sens. up as far as conditions will let you, then reduce your discrim. sure, you'll dig more iron, but those settings will help you detect deeper " whisper targets" especially if you go slow. expand your search area, i hope your're using headphones. i'm sure there's more stuff there, it's just gonna take a little more to get it all. make sure you have good hot batteries too. you might be surprised what comes out then. good luck, and hh,

wow, d2, that is one heckuva pile of old silver! i believe it qualifies as a cache too. as an old coin collector, you got a thick wad of money laying there. the values are way up there. i bet your heart skipped a beat on that one! that's incredible d2, congratulations. thanks for sharing. do you want to adopt another son? haha, just kiddin.' hh,
