I live in Grover Beach, California by Oceano Dunes where thousands come every year to camp on the beach. Some call this Pismo Beach because it is so close to Pismo. It is like a small city out there on the weekends. I only tried detecting out there one time with a Minelab Explorer. There was so much junk and beer cans everywhere that I decided to tune out everything except quarters. This actually worked and I was surprised. Sometimes a aluminum can would hit and a few other things... but for the most part, I was getting quarters if I remember correctly. It was a few years back. I no longer have a Explorer. I wish I did. I was thinking about taking a less powerful detector (Like a Ace 150) and going out there again to give it a try. Just skim the top 4 or 5 inches. If I get a hit, scoop it and if nothing, move on fast. I don't feel like digging deep for aluminum cans. I will remove the ones I do scoop up. Has anyone tried this before? Do you think it might work? I guess there is only one way to find out
