I'm still here!! Got out yesterday and got some goods. The ground was nice and moist and carpeted in nails!! The 705 was bangin' like a video game in all metal, 2 tone mode. I just listened for the smooth "Ping" and presto!! Great day, the "C" button was a plus with some gold still on it!!

Congrats on those very sweet finds! I am not a relic hunter but I know good stuff when I see it, Beale.

My ignorance abounds, but the "C" means its a CSA button right? Nice looking button.

The Union Army (US) had different buttons for each level of ranks. Eagle buttons with a plain shield in the chest of the eagle were Pvt to Sgt. Buttons with the A,C, I, R & V in the shield were for officers Lieutenant thru Captain. Staff Officers Major thru General had the "Muffin" style button without any alphabet in the shield. The "C" was Cavalry. This pic is a Staff Officers Button
