I had been holding off using my new Excalibur because after reading a few negative posts about them, I was afraid that there would be something wrong with it and that I would have to send it back for repairs. Yes, I will admit that I let a couple of negative posts sway me from trusting in the Manufacturer that I have been faithful to for the last twelve years. I was a complete idiot, posting negatives about the machine on the forum and even went as far as calling Minelab and complaining about a problem that I didn't even know if my machine had....wow....I was really losing it. LOL!

Well, let...me...tell...you, all my worries were for nothing. I went to a park that I have hunted a few times, each time getting skunked. I think I found a memorial penny one time and that was it. I figured this time would be no different and that I would be making that hour drive home, empty handed again.........NOT!!

Today, the Excal. II with the 10 inch coil found me an 1899 Liberty V nickel (that I mashed with my shovel), an 1889 Indian head penny (my first!!) and an old wheatie (can't read the date). All this was found in about two hours hunting, in a super hard hunted park that dates back to the early 1800's. The coins were all in the six or more inch range and were close to iron of some sort. I had to wiggle the signals up. The machine performed flawlessly, maintaining a very smooth threshold that did not waver, even when dipped for awhile in the mineral spring. Another thing I liked, is that when it started to hammer down rain, unlike when I use my Sovereign, I walked to shelter, because I knew that my Excalibur could handle it since it's waterproof. (finally, a waterproof Sovereign. :smoke: )
I've included a couple of pics of the coins and the park. Sorry for the condition of the coins but the soil here is brutal on them.

Thanks for looking and if you are thinking about buying an Excalibur II, don't hesitate. I'm glad that I got mine. Thank you Minelab for another great one.:detecting:

Where's a beach?

Pool and a couple of spring pictures. I wish I could figure out how to space the pics with descriptions....

I just purchased a used Excalibur 800 and the machine works great. I have a couple of questions for you if you have the time. I do fresh water hunting and have already found one silver and one gold ring in the water, but I also enjoy land hunting. Could you give me any tips on discrimination for trashy areas? My mother's house is over 100 yrs. old & I seem to have trouble separating the trash from the coins, and therefore end up digging more trash. I've been running it in discrimination with my discrimination knob on 1 and sensitivity on auto sometimes and on around 12 o'clock other times. I have managed to find a 1948 dime. It doesn't seem to be signaling any deep targets; most of what I'm finding is 3 - 4 inches. Thank you for your time! HH! ~ Anthony
