OK, Im new to this site. I must tell you after about 20 years Ive upgraded to the Ace 250.I had a expensive machine before, but I imagine with the upgrades in technology, like everthing else, they can pack more into a smaller package thses days. Im in my mid fities and have had some neck and shoulder problems, I was drawn to this product partially due to its advertised wieght. I can loose track of time these days swinging that thing. My mid night stingy and numb hands are gone now. Its amazing. Stay tuned, for my comments. As a musician, reknowned for his ear playing I can tell you Garrett absolutely develops their bell tones for a reason. I know I could definately always trust my old Garrett on pennies, it was just awesome for that. As you who have been using them know, there is a definate "clang" to a coin hit, its like its dropping into a can or a piggy bank, Add some silver content and your blood pressures goes up -their is a "high end" brightness to that bell, you might not be able to discribe in technical terms, along with the very clean clang, when faretting out a silver coin-that where the excitement is. If you guys know what I mean there is that heart skip. I know I have been more selective with my sites in the last year, but in the last 2 and half months, using the Ace 250, I have had a lot of first. I am going to give you the rest of my review in the upcoming months. I have been using it probably 20-30 hours a week. I will give you my ideas on pinpointing, foil sounds, to dig or not to dig deciesion making and more, By the way after using for years now for real, I kid you not, a toy metal detector with the handle cut off for locating in hole, etc I am going to get soon a Pin Pointer. I will say that old toy really did serve me well. For the price of the 250 and the Pinpointer I think- I am making out perhaps better than buying a much more exspensive machine. thanks, Osgood

Welcome to the forum and we'll look forward to some pictures and report of your future finds..

G'day Osgood. welcome to the forum.
It sounds like you have a good grasp of the Ace already. Interesting thoughts on the tones. I look forward to reading what you learn from the Ace. For a simple machine, it sure does allow you to learn a fair bit from it. I haven't focused on all the little bits of information that you can glean from the tones, but it's an area that deserves the time spent on it. With the hours you are putting into it, you'll be richly rewarded for with knowledge.
I look forward to reading your posts.

Osgood you bought a good detector and don't let anyone say otherwise.
Too bad some other people are going thought life with the earphone on backwards..

Correctamundo! I have two Tesoro's that I love-but I had to take a little time to learn to love the Ace. I keep mine at 3 sensitivity and at setting 2 I can cherrypick a tab minefield apart. If I want depth in likely places, I'll venture to #4. I always lift the coil 8-10" to pinpoint and the target's always in the notch where it's supposed to be. If I search a tot lot, the relic mode pulls out the nice stuff without all the nails and paper clips.

Yeah i love it to it"s a sweet little detector & dose a good job finding coins & gold + silver jewellery i"v had my ACE250 since the middle of 2006 & have found heaps of cool stuff with it.
i look forward to hearing your take on it & hope to see all the great stuff you find with it.
