there are some lead solid seal acid base batteries that are been used for RC toys and I'm wondering if they will work on the matal detectors, they have to be external and make a harnnes to feed the power to the detector but other than that...
Just wondering!!!

It'll work. Just wonder why you'd want to do that. You'd have yet one more wire going from the machine to your body. If you are wanting to use a rechargeable battery I'd look into some high capacity AA nimhs.

Ecxellent point critter, it is just a lot less spencive, for the total of 30.00 you can get a 5Amp unit with a charger on batteries+ and on the AA rechargable ones you dont get the 12V output need it and that my overheat the electronics inside the box, or not?
have you try the AA rechargables?

They won't over heat it. Higher capacity batteries just mean longer run times. The only thing that will over heat the electronics is a battery that provides higher voltage that what is required. Something you don't have to worry about with Nimh or Nicad rechargeables.

Hi Ism. they are, depending on the zise you get (Amps) I was holding one that is at 4Am and it was little heavier than the stock 1000mmA battery pack others like 6 or 8Amps units are as doble the zise and heavy as well. but because I was thinking on the way the big 5000 machines have an external battery pack this may be an option for it on a long hunting weekend and less expencive too.
Just an idea!!

I don't think it would be worth the effort. You'd have to wire up a power plug to the box so you could plug it in. I still say some 2500ma or higher nimhs would be better.
