Have Any Of You Hunted Using This NO SWING Method ?

I just watched this video of a guy in the UK hunting a field without swinging - also, be sure to listen to what he found using this method !

Have any of you tried hunting like this - if so ... what kind of results did you get ???

Just got the E-trac this winter so not with it YET. Have done this to every sidewalk, patio and driveway edge I detect. If there is no rebar in the concrete. Works better with a concentric coil than a dd. I have had great luck "sliding" it like that in those areas. Detecting for 12 years but have not swung the E-trac yet just came over from a 705. I feel it helps for those coins on edge next to the concrete it may not but have had good results so still doing it. Also swing the edge on my first pass back.

Figure it out. You push the 6" wide coil 100' you have covered 50 sq feet v.s. you detect 100' swinging an average of 36" per swing you end up covering 300 sq ft. The more mileage under your coil the higher your finds are.

nice ideal seeing there is no way you could swing the coil in that area. if i ever encounter an area like that i'd push and not swing as well

I used this method to hunt a corn field with standing corn. Rows were too narrow to swing properly so I used a 10 inch coil and pushed it up and down the rows. Ended up with a large cent and a mercury dime.

That's How I hunt sidewalk edges all the time. Also when I get tired of swinging in the parks and fields, I just drag my machine (coil) behind me and go "trolling"......NGE

Think of how the DD coil works. You would get more coverage if you turned the coil sideways. That's just my thoughts.

takes much longer though to swing it 100' than push 100'. so i don't think it makes much difference. if u swing it much easier to make sure u didn't miss any area though.

He is hunting the fields the only way he can which is better than nothing but his detection field is only 1 to 2 inches wide pushing that coil. If he does a lot of hunting that way, he would be a lot better off making a coil mounting adaptor that turns the the coil 90 degrees so his detection field would be the entire length of the coil. He would get 7 to 10 times more coverage using the same method.

Going back a few years now and mostly on the Explorer Forum, I can recall the pictures of how Charles (Upstate NY) had positioned an Explorer XS with 15 inch WOT coil, on a specially made low slung to the ground timber cart. I 'm sure he used to push in mostly straight lines that allowed him to effectively grid an area and probably not get so tired trying to swing the 15 inch WOT coil.
So there was no swinging while using this cart. Worked for him.

Round about the same time, there was also a guy over here, Ray Hudson, who did the same with a Minelab Sovereign with 15 inch WOT coil. Again , no swinging and that also worked well for him.
